27 is for the people who were really good, even groundbreaking, at what they did. Jimi Hendrix , Janice Joplin, Kurt Cobain. This Miller guy isn't even approaching the same league as those others.

The only ground Kurt broke was bringing pop punk to a mass audience (which is a big hunk of ground, mind you). If he were alive today, he wouldn't call himself "groundbreaking". He would point to The Melvins, The Pixies, Flipper, Killing Joke, Mudhoney, etc. and said, "Those guys taught me everything I know. They were the groundbreakers."

Nirvana got everyone out of hair metal. Groundbreaking, but still overrated. Yes, there is a slight difference.

Selena didn't make 27, though that was no fault of her own. She would have been the female Michael Jackson, IMO.
