Heck, all this time I'd spotted him about 10 years. Figured he was younger.

RIP. It will be many, many years before we have a mind that can potentially match his on the subject of physics.

While I take your point, dumber, too. Hawking didn't just understand stuff, he had a capacity for understanding and a facility for creating new knowledge that was way, way out on the f-cking right tail. The comparable figure from the last century was Einstein and before that I dunno, Gauss maybe?
