DEAD!! All right, who died now?

Re: DEAD!! All right, who died now?

As is the story with every "SUPER AMAZING" UFC fighter. That "sport" is a joke...

Well, in boxing they'd just have fixed her fights so she won. I've never watched a second of UFC, but my impression is at least it's honest.

Just because boxing is dirty doesnt make UFC better than it. UFC is a joke. They overpromote the stars who then lose so then they overpromote the person who beat the star who then loses. Once the big dawg loses their career is all but over. Not to mention that as a Martial Artist MMA has watered down multiple forms of Martial Arts.

Great story about that...there is an MMA training gym in Minneapolis and they thought they could show up at one our schools and fight...they got flipping destroyed! :D

In a hundred years, we are going to look back on this as we now look back on the gladiators as barbaric.

I more judge the man bun sporting, Affliction wearing, tribal tattooed d-bags that circle jerk over the sport. Some of them make barbarians look like Jesuits.

Yeah, I guess it's no different in that sense. What was more barbaric: the gladiators fighting or the fans and culture that supported and encouraged it?

Re: DEAD!! All right, who died now?

I wouldn't bet on that hundred year arc. As recent events bear out, cultures don't go in one direction. Who knows what atavistic stupidity we'll be up to in 100 years? We might be burning witches again.

Heretics, Kep. Heretics.

I get the allure, but it's not for me. I've watched the Lesnar fights (no I didn't pay for them), and watched replays of Ronda's fights, both out of curiosity.

As for you story about them coming into your place, Handy, I think that's where they do fall short. They HAVE to limit themselves to one style. In MMA, they generally have to have knowledge and SOME skill in a few martial arts to succeed.

Re: DEAD!! All right, who died now?

Except they used multiple styles and got smoked. Most MMA fighters are decent at multiple things but have no real proficiency in any of them. Unless they are highly ranked (black belt or equivalent) in multiple disciplines then they are in lots of trouble.

Are we talking overall? Or the "pro" level. I'm kind of defending you in a backwards way. The superstars (so to speak) are usually expert in one style, but are more than competent in other styles. That Saint guy who retired...that guy was a legit beast.

Sure, the local/regional circuits...you're gonna whup them even if you allow them to use all styles.

Ronda is an expert in Judo. Problem is, at least in the MMA I've seen, if the other fighter is a better puncher than you are (or in Holm's case a kickboxer) they have a shot. Don't matter how good your fancy martial arts are. Nunez has a huge wingspan and a devastating punch.

Really ticked Rousey lost. It sours me on MMA. I'm usually pretty sour on it anyway but that really sours me. Oh, well.
