Re: Days Since Last Mass Shooting: 0

So... you're comfortable with Muslims being monitored then?

No. Discriminating against any race or religion is forbidden under the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Gun owners are not a protected class and owners of guns already are discriminated against (as should be the case). In fact, there is discussion on this thread of extending that discrimination.

Re: Days Since Last Mass Shooting: 0

The gun lobby will never allow it which is the problem. You're talking about the most rabid lobby on the planet and one with endless resources. Until the power of their dollar is taken away not a god**** thing is going to change.

As a pro-gun guy, I agree with this. The NRA is too powerful.

Re: Days Since Last Mass Shooting: 0

The President will address the nation tomorrow at 8 PM.

"THINGS HAVE TO CHANGE"

*nothinghappensagain*

Not a shot at Obama. I don't care who is president. As Slappy mentioned, the NRA has too big a lobby.

Re: Days Since Last Mass Shooting: 0

Gun dealers must LOVE it every time there is a mass shooting. It does wonders for their business as the gun nuts can't wait to get their hands on even more firearms.

You'd be surprised at the numbers of people buying their 1st as a result of recent event as well...

Re: Days Since Last Mass Shooting: 0

I'd think about buying an AR if I thought they were going to be outright banned.

There are some that are very nice guns and you might as well if they are going to be grandfathered. Which they almost certainly would be.

We buy guns and urge our representatives authorize acts of war when a dozen people are gunned down in public, but when 17 million die worldwide each year from obesity-related illness or 6 million die annually from tobacco-related disease, we simply reach for another cigarette for ourselves or box of breakfast sugar for our children. Not saying we should prohibit the sale of soda, sugar pops, or cigarettes or condemn others, including our friends and family, who work in industries that aggressively market those products. Just suggesting that before we reach for the gun or send our money and our family to war, we understand what we are doing and what drives us to do it. We are cave people, and when we see a member of another clan threatening us, our instinctive response is pretty predictable, even though it may be tragically misguided.

I know all that is cliche'd to the point of being offensive, but it still seems to be something we are consistently unable to avoid. And those in the market understand that and will capitalize on it.

From Iowa:

Cruz, who entered and exited to a standing ovation from the crowd, promised to "utterly destroy" Islamic terrorists.

"We will carpet-bomb them into oblivion," Cruz said. "I don't know if sand can glow in the dark, but we're going to find out."

After making this statement, Cruz lurched back into his cave and humped one of his mates while chewing an a piece of uncooked animal flesh.

He's ripped that off from bbdl: "We can drill through glass." ;)

How is that discrimination? It's just a database!

If you're talking about a database that nobody ever looks at...why are you wasting your breath? Taking action on a database via profiling based on race or religion is discrimination and against US' civil right legislation. Gun owners is not a protected class. Likewise via licenses, many gun owners are 'ID'd and monitored'.

Not sure what you're advocating or not advocating.

Re: Days Since Last Mass Shooting: 0

Sorry. There just aren't many national databases of law-abiding citizens that pass any sort of smell test. If you want to implement some sort of fascist policies of tracking law-abiding citizens by exercising their constitutionally protected rights, that's beyond me.

mookie has to wave a pass to move into the elevator bank (and pass from one side of his bldg to the other. he hates doing THAT!!! :D

imagine his thoughts on being enrolled in any database :p
