D3 Regional Rankings and Bracketology

Re: D3 Regional Rankings and Bracketology

I'm sorry, I have been legitimately LOLing every time I come back to this forum. Any time a West team loses, be it to another West to or an East team, it's always about WHY THEY LOST, instead of why the OTHER team WON. Sure, some have been dropping the "Elmira has experience," line, but then followed up with, "Yeah, but Adrian wasn't disciplined, they need to learn how to win, they were missing X player, they couldn't focus, etc. etc. etc."

We get it. It's a hard reality that other teams are better than the teams you prefer. But perhaps giving others credit couldn't hurt. That goes for NESCAC haters/lovers, too. Frankly? Yeah, I wanted Elmira to win because it makes the ECAC-W look better, sure. But as long as another banner is hoisted at Stafford, I couldn't care less about how good the conference looks.

Just gonna throw this here...after the Plattsburgh loss to Utica.

I agree with you. It's not like they outshot the opponent 45-10 and lost by a goal. They gave up scoring chance after scoring chance (2 on 1s, breakaways). In the 5 on 3s, it was basically two passes and a shot from the point. They really didn't work the puck down low. Maybe the Cardinals get something out of this game and it propels them to the title, but no one should be "happy" about the loss...

By the way, the last D-III loss by the Lady Cardinals to a team not named Elmira? March 15, 2013 to Middlebury in the Frozen Four.

It goes both way honey. People always look for reasons why their team lost. Are you telling me that every single time your team has lost you've said..."well they are just a better team and beat us?" No one is saying that Elmira only won because Lupi was out or that Middlebury only won because they were playing UMB. And to be fair...I gave Elmira credit for winning the game, not Adrian for losing it.

It was great watching them play. Elmira came in with a game plan to disrupt what Adrian does well and I really don't think Adrian was able to adapt. Have no doubt though that Nelson won that game for Elmira...she was pretty amazing in net.

Re: D3 Regional Rankings and Bracketology

So LF does not get out of the conference playoffs because they lost their two best players. Adrian is missing Lupi and has excuses for losing to Elmira. Middlebury lost All-American Watson and is headed to the FF. 'Nuff said?

LOL, they beat UMB to make it to the final 4. What is the over/ under on their next game?

Re: D3 Regional Rankings and Bracketology

So your requirement to be a real team is get to the NCAA championship game? The 21-4-3 record, the NESCAC championship, the win in the first round of the NCAA tournament - that doesn't make them a real team? So what if they beat UMB - UMB beat Norwich and Castleton last weekend and last I checked they were ranked teams. This is at or near the top of my list for stupidest post of the season. Middlebury is a real team, but they still won't beat Plattsburgh who is the best team.

Thanks for the Award!!! I regularly agree with your posts but clearly I have hit a nerve about Middlebury. I am not a Middlebury fan. Mandigo is a terrible coach and don't get me started on his daughter being on the first line. I bet there are many players ready for her career to come to an end. Some parents can coach their kid in college properly he didn't imo.

Re: D3 Regional Rankings and Bracketology

Good stuff! This guys a head case, so don't be surprised if he doesn't get it.

mmm right. a head case.

stats can be twisted any way you like. The ecac west is a 2 team league [ok, maybe 2 1/2 with Utica]...the rest of the Conf is terrible...sorry, just the facts....[and if I want to dig into you OOC numbers, which I don't, I'm sure the bottom half of your bad league played a lot of bottom half/new programs to get those "quality" wins. Oh, and when you graduate, you'll have a degree that will take you places...lol

LOL Yup! Right up Snooty Hill lol Where all the prissy little pansy wanna-bees have mommy and daddy on speed dial. The same kids who were beat up on in high school(or probably should have) and never had to do much for themselves. The ones who cry when mommy and daddy buy them a Lexus and not the Benz. The ones who corrupt cooperate America. The ones who hand you their card to their lawyer and can't handle anything themselves. The ones who hide behind a message board screen name and probably wouldn't have the testicular fortitude to say it to ones face....whoops. Yup, I'd be proud to go to a NESCAC school... CONGRADULATIONS!

Sorry, I missed have missed the part where I said Plattsburgh fans don't do this....?

I used the Adrian/Elmira situation as an example. Everyone does it. Chill out

What experiences in your life give you the self important ability to call Coach Mandigo a terrible coach? And gee, Katie knows when her career ends: Saturday, after at worst playing in the DIII runner up game. A place most kids playing would be more than proud to reach. No one expects you to be a Panther fan, but having a bit of respect might be nice. By the by, Middlebury really does not have a first line.

Bear - It takes a lot to get you to upset, but thank you for this reply. I have been out of the country for over a year and have just gotten back, but have followed USCHO online, while not being able to take in a game. Following this thread has been sad, as there seem to be many parents living their lives vicariously through their kids, and taking frustrated pot shots at coaches and players (sadly)!! Thanks for your level headed comments through out the years, and I look forward to your unbiased reports from this weekend!! Good luck to all of the teams!!

Re: D3 Regional Rankings and Bracketology

I am absolutely amazed by the negativity here. The same person that seems so sane in one post goes completely off the rails in another. I also HATE the pot shots at individual players and find that a classless thing to do. Any girl that is fortunate enough to lace up their skates this weekend no doubt has put in countless hours to get to this point. I don't care if it's the girl with 50 points or the young lady that gets 2 shifts a game. They all deserve the utmost respect for reaching the pinnacle of their chosen sport. How many girls play hockey in world? How many will get to skate in a Frozen Four game?

There are so many good posts from a variety of people here why go to the dark side? I think discussions about who is better, etc. can all be done respectfully without putting down the other teams. All the teams that have made it this far have earned their way. Are there others that could just as easily be here if things had turned out just a little differently? For certain. But that should not detract from the four remaining schools. Why not take this time to celebrate a game that all of you are so passionate about rather than using it as a time to be divisive? Hockey is a niche sport and D3 womens hockey might be the ultimate niche.

I'll start out by saying that I'm excited to see all these teams play. Plattsburgh has had an amazing run and I cannot wait to see this team play for the first time. I've watch Elmira and Middlebury a little and like the way they both play. Elmira is experienced and poised and seem deep throughout. Middlebury seems to play a smart game make very few mistakes, putting it away when it matters. UWRF is the little engine that could. The underdog here, no doubt, but even though they seem to lack depth they have a couple outstanding players that can carry the team if the puck bounces right for them.

Whomever leaves this weekend the champion will certainly have earned it. Best of luck to all the teams.

You had me nodding my head in agreement until I got the "niche sport"comment. Where we come from, hockey is not a niche sport. And I bet if you surveyed the members of the final four, they'd agree. Other than that, I agree with your thoughtful analysis. ;)

What's wrong with you? Can you not communicate without throwing F-bombs and insults? Your elementary education is really shining through. Sad, sad!

Re: D3 Regional Rankings and Bracketology

Actually no, not even close but thanks. Again, CONGRATULATIONS mommas boy.

I'm going out on a limb here...But considering you joined in 2001, I assume you were in college in 2001, which makes it nearly impossible for you to have a college aged daughter. I could be wrong, just taking a somewhat educated guess.
