D3 Regional Rankings and Bracketology

Re: D3 Regional Rankings and Bracketology

Classy post! Hope you enjoyed the ride! It's an exciting time for the girls and something they won't soon ... or ever forget. Good luck to all final four teams!

All right. Now that I've said my goodbyes to the girls, I'm going to comment on what I saw tonight, and then get the hell off the stage.

Elmira 3
Adrian 1

Experience can take you quite a long way. Elmira had it. Adrian did not. That's just how it goes sometimes. It showed, especially in the 1st period. Adrian played very nervous early on, and found themselves down a goal on a power play, that IMHO, should have been a 4x4, but I do not wish to carry that any further than that. Syd Smith tied it on a power play of our own, and then Elmira took the lead for good, and iced it with an empty netter.

Nobody got hosed tonight. Nobody got screwed. Elmira converted more chances. Simple as that. The first goal was a shot that I don't think Walsh even saw, and the 2nd one was a case where Adrian just did a bad job killing the penalty.

Adrian got their feet wet tonight. They got a taste of the NCAA tournament. They've got a nice junior class that has that experience under their belts now, and they have something to motivate them through the offseason. Am I angry? Nope. Upset? Nope. Disappointed? Of course. The ones I feel bad for are Logan, Audrey, Michelle and Kelsey. They played their final game tonight. Thank you for everything, girls. I loved every second of it. I wouldn't trade it for anything.

Re: D3 Regional Rankings and Bracketology

It was a blast. I've been through this before, first with Ferris, and then with the men's team at Adrian. Nights like this still don't get any easier, especially as you get to know the players and their families. I suppose that it's tradition now that I write the obit on the final game. I just with I didn't have to do it tonight.

Good luck, folks.

Re: D3 Regional Rankings and Bracketology

oye vey what a schmuck.

hey idiot...u have a conf of 2 top teams and all Slop....and let's not get into a comparison of academics since that's just plain embarrassing...[recruiting isn't too hard when a C- average and 800 SAT's are acceptable] lol.

p.s. Midd is still playing dingle****z....and careful....they may just win. ouch!!

You know...you keep saying how much better the NESCAC is top to bottom...well here are real numbers as we sit.....NESCAC OOC .622 51-30-5 (3 teams with losing records OOC) ECAC West OOC .760 71-21-4 (1 team with a losing record OOC)

I know how you feel. I can still remember the guy I stood beside for four years shaking my hand and saying to me that we probably wouldn't ever see each other again....I thought that odd....but...I haven't seen him since. That last game is tough for sure!!

Good stuff! This guys a head case, so don't be surprised if he doesn't get it.

Soooo....how many western teams in the final???? Another year of posturing and another year of Eastern dominance!! C'mon!!!

Well River falls is there still. Apparently you all forgot about them. Hopefully Elmira does too.

And if crosscheck is representative of a NESCAC education...it can't really be that good.

Have to agree with you on the education thing. Was thinking the same thing. (And sorry for the senior moment :) )

It was great watching them play. Elmira came in with a game plan to disrupt what Adrian does well and I really don't think Adrian was able to adapt. Have no doubt though that Nelson won that game for Elmira...she was pretty amazing in net. Which I see they gave her the chance after Crawford choked against Utica and she met the challenge.

That and I think Adrian pumped Crawford for 4 in their first meeting, too.

EDIT: I should also add that Elmira's goaltender was very good tonight as well.

And hopefully Lupi learned a valuable lesson. I can't imagine how terrible she feels right now. I have no doubt they'll be back next year. Probably playing Elmira again :)

Re: D3 Regional Rankings and Bracketology

You know, Division I doesn't seem to mind conference match ups in the NCAa tournament. Maybe Div III. needs to abandon this rule as well. The bracket was really in shambles this year...

I wouldn't trust that as gospel. Plattsburgh is not gong to play the early game on a Friday afternoon at home. Unless River Falls is going to host and that doesn't make much sense at this point.

I know Houle has traditionally prefered and requested the early game. i was surprised that they played the late game last weekend.

Re: D3 Regional Rankings and Bracketology

I've been waiting all year to post this. (Where's this Crosscheck idiot now??) These NESCAC hopefuls who say they're so great, and the western fans who dominated this forum during the regular season can all go and sit down now. The real teams have made it to the finals and the pretenders can go to the golf course.....AGAIN!!!

Middlebury needs to win another game before they are a real team. Getting the easiest possible road, beating UMB, to the Final 4 doesn't make them a real team.

I think River Falls can beat Elmira. Adrian totally blew yesterday's game. UWRF will need to show up but they can do it!

Usually that's if the second game is an afternoon game. He doesn't like a 7:00 pm game followed by a 3 pm game if he can help it. Last week, the second game was at 3 and the game the next day was a full 24 hours later. This week would be the same thing. I doubt he'd pick an afternoon game that fans would have a harder time getting to when Saturday's game (if they win Friday) is at 7 Saturday.

Not to state the obvious, but Middlebury needs another win and they are playing in the DIII final. Young team, coming together...Will they beat the Red Army? Who knows...could they beat the Red Army??? You bet!
And by they way, I love Plattsburgh as a travel destination in March. Great place, great program. Good Luck to all the players, coaches and fans! See you at Stafford.
