D3 Game Updates Continued

Re: D3 Game Updates Continued

What an amazing finish - and game - by Norwich. They capitalized and deserved to win! Good luck!

Re: D3 Game Updates Continued

What an amazing comeback by Norwich! Congratulations to the whole team, Mark and the rest of the coaching staff. Good luck in the Mid-West!

Re: D3 Game Updates Continued

Good luck to all 4 teams, and happy travels to all of the east teams.

Very good chance of seeing a repeat of last year's final. No guaranty, but good chance. Only time will tell.

What probability do you assign to this "very good chance"?

Re: D3 Game Updates Continued

An absolutely superb win for the NU Women's Hockey Team. Another miracle on ice. :) And thanks to all of you for being such great representatives of our university. Good luck going forward.

I do not know what % to attach to this, but both teams certainly have experience on their side.

Saying that Gustavus certainly has the home ice advantage, knowing the rink and not having to travel, however, they still carry the wait on their shoulders that the West has struggled in the past at this tournament. At least they get to host this, as they were cheated in the past, as has been discussed previously.

Norwich probably is in the toughest position not ever playing in this tournament, as they will feel the pressure, but they did overcome that today.

Geez, I sound like a politician.....don't I? :D

I want to thank WIRY for providing such balanced and professional game coverage for those of us who didn't want to risk trying to get to both NU games.

What a game!

Ha! Not like a politician, because you are actually giving opinions. Rather, you sound more like an economist ... on the one hand, blah blah, blah, but on the other hand, bleh, bleh, bleh, then again, on the other hand, blih, blih, blih ... *too many hand! :D

I can see your points, however. I would also add, as some others have said elsewhere, that GA beat Amherst last year in the west and has the best record of any team, east or west, over the last 21 games they've played this season--20-1-0. So I may be wrong, but I do not think the odds favor a repeat of last year quite as much as many in the east may think. Yet, it is still 3 to 1 east vs west in the final four so odds do favor an east win even if the teams are all approximately equal in ability.

Re: D3 Game Updates Continued

It is really only a recommendation (1 in every four going west rule) I will believe it when I see it.

Nevertheless, I feel there is absolutely no chance the tournament will be out West this year. This is the NCAA D-3 womans hockey tournament and they need some competition so they invite 2 teams from the west to fill the brackets. ALL top D-3 teams are about even. It is a shame the NCAA does not recognize the marketing opportunity to move the tournament around. It will be out east again this year, mark my words.

I know there were plenty more posts like this. Conspiracy theorists unite! It's crow eating time.

Re: D3 Game Updates Continued

"Yeah, I think it skipped like 10. At least. I think it stopped actually," Leclerc said. "But hey, if it's in the cards, it's in the cards."

Interesting choice of words by Leclerc in her postgame interview with the Press-Republican:cool:

Say What??? Conspiracy theory?? Here is one for you. Houle had his team lose on purpose so they wouldn’t have to go west and possibly lose in the “West”. Ouch!!! Now the Platty faithfull can say they are still better because the “West” hasn’t beaten them in the Final’s. Gee, it looks like another four years of beat me at home because we are not going on the road until then. And probably not anyway. :p

Re: D3 Game Updates Continued

it was 1-0 a few minutes into the 2nd and I lost my video feed.:(

This is great! NCAA final weekend and we cannot get the feed unless we have broadband and then it bails on us. Meanwhile, no score posting either. Guess I will go back to reading the newspaper the next day to see what happened.

Frustrated Norwich fan in Colorado!
