D1 Scores and Highlights

Re: D1 Scores and Highlights

5-0 UMD over SCSU half way through the second period. Cournoyer with a hat trick. SCSU is game but doesn't have the firing power. Very quick play.

Mavericks score three times in the 2nd. Gophers up 4-3 after two in Mankato.

Re: D1 Scores and Highlights

It would be interesting if the third period sees Steck and VanDenakker squaring off in net once again...they used to live in the same end of town.

Re: D1 Scores and Highlights

UMD 5 - SCSU 0 final. The score was certainly not indicative of the play. Judging by SCSU's 3rd period play it looked like it was a scoreless tie. By far the best game I've seen SCSU play...looks like they've been paying a lot of attention to conditioning. Very fast end to end game...from start to finish. There was absolutely no quit in them...even being down by 5. I'm very impressed.

Play by play guy was very enthusiastic...added lots of value...he almost harkened thoughts back to Foster Hewitt and Danny Galavan. Certainly worth the price of admission.

I sincerely doubt those were the Buckeyes last wins.

Where do you see them getting a win out of curiosity. I don't see the Gophers or the Badgers dropping a game at this point in the season. UND and UMD need every win they can get to into the NCAAs as well. Your Buckeyes are playing for pride and to be a spoiler at this point, then a 5th place finish sends them on the road to Duluth in all liklihood. So it could be next season before they see another win in my book. Anything the rest of this year will be an upset!

Well we did not have to wait long for the next Buckeye win. !!.

Re: D1 Scores and Highlights

Bemidji played their a-- off and the Badgers may have been looking ahead to Fill the Bowl. Beavers rallied from a 2-0 deficit and even though their first goal was a fluke, they had many other quality scoring opportunities. Coach Johnson has been saying all week that Bemidji is the hardest working team in the league and I don't doubt it.

With that said, the Badgers did what they do...win close games. After withstanding an early OT rush by Bemidji, the gamewinner was a great pass from Decker to Ammerman to Packer who was in front of the net to put it away.

Badgers remain two games ahead in league standings going into the Fill the Bowl game. Good luck to whoever draws the Beavers in the first round of the WCHAs.

Packer scores early in OT in Madison for a 3-2 win over Bemidji. BOO!

Yep, and the Buckeyes dominated the game. That game was never in doubt. Some posters can call it an upset if they want, but Ohio State torched North Dakota, jumping out to a 4-0 lead and never letting UND get within striking distance. North Dakota looked frustrated. Goals were scored by Danielle Gagne, Taylor Kuehl, Paige Semenza, Kari Schmitt, and Natalie Spooner (2). Great performance by the girls tonight, it may have been the best game of the season. Also, seeing as we are sitting in the top four in the nation's best conference, I think it's kind of a stretch for anyone to call us "spoilers." Tonight's win tends to prove that we're not just spoilers. It is great to see them playing this well at this point in the season. Congrats coaching staff and team! Go Buckeye Womens Hockey!

Congrats to OSU, I obviously didn't see it coming and UND better come back strong tomorrow and the rest of the way or they may see there NCAA chances start to slip away. Another loss to OSU could prove costly.

Important for the Buckeyes to follow with a similar performance with like results in the rematch to fortify your belief. Important but not easy. I'd have to be impressed with a convincing sweep.

Wow...some pretty bold statements...especially from a relatively "New" program...."Best" is always in the eye of the beholder.....good luck the rest of the way....

Re: D1 Scores and Highlights

BTW, Minnesota has to travel to Columbus yet. I sure as hell don't consider either game in that series a gimme for the Gophers.

There is no doubt that OSU played with a chip on their shoulder, but it is still an upset no matter how the teams played! You are sitting in 4th because you havent played your second series against TOP teams. We will see where you finish at the end of the year. No doubt that the Buckeyes are a good team, but i'll put money on OSU playing no home games in the playoffs.
