D1 Commitments 2012-2013

Re: D1 Commitments 2012-2013

Canada is slowly annexing the USA one northeast school at a time.

If you look at the starting line-ups of every ECAC team, it's rare if 2 girls are American (not that there's anything wrong with that!)

Re: D1 Commitments 2012-2013

When they were here on the 5th I noticed the ONLY American on the roster was their third string goalie. Which as hard as I tried to get the coach to put her in he only played his two canadians.

I guess we all look for certain abilities/qualities when watching a game, looking at passports was something I never considered.

I don't care where they are from. I was just hounding the coach to put the third stringer in because it was out of hand/ to mess with the other goalies a bit. I follow in the NU tradition of rattling goalies.

Did not check, but suspect that Harvard and Princeton are an exception to this rule. Harvard probably have an All American starting lineup for most games, as they only carry 3 canucks. Princeton has five canucks on their roster.

And TTT's beloved BC squad does not have any canucks.

Not so rare after all. In tonights ECAC game, one team had four Americans in their starting lineup, the other three.

Maybe your view is a bit jaded by the Maple Leaf Red overtoned team from Ithaca. :D

Last I checked BC in HE not ECAC ;)

Dartmouth, Quinnipiac, Cornell, Union, St Lawrence, Clarkson, Union, RPI.....all majority Canadians in starting line-up (as I said before, not that there's anything wrong with that!!). I was just commenting on my observation to the quote that Canada is annexing NE schools one by one. Add in Mercyhurst, Syracuse, RMU, BU....not sure about rest of HE but I don't think that original comment is that far off.

Not quite sure what you are talking about, but RPI Starting lineup features 1 or 2 canadians depending upon which goalie they are playing. Total of 7 on the team so I am not quite as good at math as most RPI students but thet seems like somewhat less than a majority. Of the 6 recruits for next year that I am aware of only one is Canadian.

While some of my comments were intended TIC, there was some validity to it as well...

Overall, typically about 40% of all D1 recruits in a given year are Canadian, and 60% American, and 2-3% international.

Within the ECAC, there are several teams that are stocked with mostly Canadian Players,Clarkson and Cornell, but there are just as many ECAC teams that are stocked with mostly Americans, such as Harvard, Princeton, and RPI.

The Numbers:

Team.... - USA - CAN - Int
=====================
Brown........ - 10 - 12 - 2
Clarkson..... - 01 - 20 - 0
Colgate...... - 11 - 10 - 0
Cornell....... - 06 - 15 - 0
Dartmouth.. - 11 - 10 - 0
Harvard...... - 15 - 03 - 0
Princeton.... - 15 - 06 - 0
Quinnipiac... - 14 - 10 - 2
RPI............. - 17 - 07 - 0
SLU............. - 11 - 12 - 0
Union........... - 14 - 10 - 0
Yale............. - 10 - 12 - 0
=====================
Totals.......... - 135 - 127 - 4

The tale of the numbers is:
Two teams with vast majority Canadian Players...Clarkson (20/21) and Cornell (15/21)
Six teams with a 50/50 split, give or take a player or two
Two teams with marginally more American players...Quinnipiac (14/26) and Union (14/24)
Three teams with vast Majority American players....Harvard (15/18), Princeton (15/21) and RPI (17/24)

Overall more teams with majority Americans, and more American then Canadian players in the League.
