Cycling 2016

Re: Cycling 2016

My team is doing terrible.I think i'm like 35,000 or some stupid thing. Leaves me wishing I had Bryan Coquard like last year, though I guess I'm lucky I don't have Ritchie Porte.
Maybe it's me but all the crashes bother me.

I strongly thought about Coquard...he hasn't won yet but I feel like he's a poor man's Sagan and always around in the sprint. Tons of top 5s.

Coquard comes oh so close again today but Kittel literally beats him by an inch at the line.

Great finish today. Looking forward to tomorrow's stage. Should continue to smooth out the pecking order in the GC. Sagan and Alaphillipe should do battle again if they can stay with leaders. Probably a good chance for a breakaway to win tomorrow too.

Am I the only one not happy there was not a prime time replay last night and no replay at all tonight?

What a ballsy attack by Froome. A bit annoyed by Quintana looking for help instead of trying to win it himself.

I'm not sure I'd call it ballsy but it was definitely opportunistic. As for Quintana, he had no choice. He's not capable of reeling Froome in on a downhill or flat. Their respective historical results in flatter time trials make that quite clear.

Also, currently am visiting parents in Nevada so have been graced with the Phligget team for the first time in a while. They're even worse than I recalled. Then again, when they have to spend 100% of the stage talking they're bound to have to start making stuff up. Or start talking about Michael Matthews a lot for some reason.

I don't mind the talking quite so much as the incessant ads.

Re: Cycling 2016

I meant ballsy in terms of the danger. Hitting near 60 mph and pedaling from the tuck position. It was nicely done.

Re: Cycling 2016

Also, interesting that Contador came down with a fever before one of the toughest stages in this year's tour.

Hmm...

Re: Cycling 2016

Quintana looked spent already. A little surprised to see Porte so strong compared to Teejay and even Froome.

Re: Cycling 2016

That might have been on the greatest things I've ever seen. Couldn't have happened to two nicer guys.

It was a fine display of raw power as opposed to anything that was overly technical. The danger level was relatively low there.

Re: Cycling 2016

I don't watch cycling much since Lance's demise, but it sure seem s as if the tour has **** poor crowd control.

Re: Cycling 2016

The resources it would take to line the mountains with barriers would be crazy.

The decision was made last night at something like 1 AM to shorten the race. There was no way they had enough time to reset the barriers.

Re: Cycling 2016

I think Mollema was completely right, if Froome had the usable bike rather than him and raced to the line and he and Porte were held up they wouldn't have been given Froome's time.

Must be nice for Froome to have a domestique who's paid by another team.

Also love Sky's tactic's. Two of their guys crash and all of a sudden Froomie has to go "potty". So not only are you supposed to wait for the yellow jersey when he crashes but his teammates too. Complete bull***t. Movistar should have gone to the front and drilled it.

The commentary was horrible today, Aru came in at 54 and change and Phil said he had a bad day, then like 5 minutes later TJ comes in at 53 something and he had a great day. Really the climber who can't time trial is only beat by the "time trial" specialist by a minute minute and a half but he had a bad day.

The tactics of the teams in the race infuriate me, every time Froome attacks everyone whose with him helps him. Why????? He's the guy your trying to beat make him work you morons it's like everybody is racing for second. The only one who would is Contador and he's out of it.

Re: Cycling 2016

I'll gladly admit that I am an unabashed Hope fanboy. The stuff they make, besides performing amazingly, is also amazingly beautiful to look at. And in this day and age of outsourcing production to cheapest builder, they still make everything except rims in their factory in Barnoldswick, England.

Simon Sharp, described as one of the leading visionaries behind Barnoldswick’s Hope Technology, was found dead at his home on Monday.
