Cronin Must Go

Re: Cronin Must Go

Cronin had 1 good year. He made the NCAA tourney. Every coach before him had one good year. He has had some god awful years.

What are these God Awful years you speak of? When his team improved from a 3 win team to a 13 win team? Or when they improved from a 13 win team to a 16 win team? Maybe it was when they improved from a 16 win team to a 25 win team?

He has been the coach for 5 years. THIS IS HIS TEAM. THIS IS HIS RECRUITING. IT IS NOT BETTER
.

Am I the only one who WILDLY disagrees with seeing a difference in talent at NU since Cronin took over?

He took NU to the beanpot finals and had his STAR goalie give up 6 goals in the finals. THAT IS NOT GOOD. NOR DOES IT WIN BEANPOTS!

Yes, if only Greg had been in the net to stop those 6 goals himself. BC certainly doesn't have the most dynamic and tournament seasoned players in college hockey or anything.

Tell me something this ****ing savoir has done. I'll argue he's done nothing.

You'll probably be a lonely man in that argument!

And OK, I know it's tradition and it's bragging rights, but the beanpot is a 4 team 'tournament' with the same designated 4 teams every year. If Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont and UMass played a 'New England States Cup' or something like that every year, and Maine won 1 year, I'd probably be as jazzed up about it as them winning a "Holiday Classic 'tournament'". Does the beanpot really eat you that badly?

Re: Cronin Must Go

Could'a Would'a Should'a.

Fact is Cronin didn't deliver. As he said in the GLOBE he didn't think this was the team. THAT IS NEVER THE RIGHT THING TO SAY.

MUSE gave up 6. But the fact is, he had the game won with 4 to go. He gave up a bad goal in the end. This was a game over in reg. BC let us stay and play.

Re: Cronin Must Go

We take the #1 team in the nation to overtime and hang with them through 6 goals. We were a bounce away from a win and that is why we should fire Cronin...really? I really hope this team returns to the Garden for the Hockey East Tournament. I really do, just to prove the clowns wrong. This night confirmed, I am not afraid of going into Merrimack or Agganis for the Tournament. Not saying we'd win or have a better chance but this team can play. The question is, can Rawlings deliver a big performance down the stretch?

Re: Cronin Must Go

Giving up 6 goals is never a good performance.

EVER!

Even if you are BU, BC, ND, Minn, Mich.

WAKE THE F UP! 6 GOALS IS A BAD NIGHT!

BC won the Hockey East Championship giving up 6 goals to Maine and advanced to the Frozen Four giving up 7 goals to Yale.

NEXT! ;)

So this one OT loss against the #1 team in the nation is a referendum on his coaching ability? And I'm not sure why you're criticizing his comments when his team played extremely hard for him tonight.

MUSE gave up 6. But the fact is, he had the game won with 4 to go. He gave up a bad goal in the end. This was a game over in reg. BC let us stay and play.

Have no idea what this means.

This is not what NU wanted. 13-16 wins is still 500. BIG DEAL. A monkey can do that.

I'm glad he doesn't play and only his JOB is dependent on him finding people to perform and not allow 6 goals.

Apparently the game ended in regulation... Guess I was watching a different NU - BC game on NESN, did the game you attended have overtime? You must have gone to the wrong TD Garden!

Ok, while the WCHA is the best conference EVER!1!1!!!1!11!!!OMGWTeFFBBQ!, HE has bigger trolls. That's saying something. Congrats, guys!

Dude, you can't look at this season in a vacuum. NU had 16 underclassmen playing tonight.

Again, Muse gave up six goals. York should be given his walking papers...

Re: Cronin Must Go

You'd want to see BC? ;)

Ha ha :)

One big difference, Merrimack's got the offensive talent to win a shootout and the defensive talent to shut teams down. Right now, who would you want to see in a one-game winner-take-all right now, Merrimack (assuming Da Costa is healthy) or BC? That's not as easy choice as you think.

I'm still taking BC, but trust me, I am not sleeping on Merrimack. They are absolutely a threat.

My eyes are bleeding from this idiocy. REALLY? How many DID NU want?? My guess is that there are 58 teams who want to have all of them.

This was so insane I had to do some research. I'm not sure what you're looking for but in the FIFTY FIVE YEARS before Cronin, NU has finished two wins or more above .500 15 times. That is less than 28% of the time. Only twice in the decade the preceded him, good for 20%.

Despite playing in Matthews Arena, the program has minimal history of success to build off of and attract talent to. Of the Beanpot schools they are dead last in historic success and players turning pro, so if you're a skilled kid who wants to play in the city, and the Yankees and the Mets offer you contracts.... c'mon....

Actually, that's insulting the history of the Mets

And despite this, he HAS drawn some GREAT talent in. When I was looking at Dubuque (Jimmy Montgomery's expansion team is the USHL who just had their goalie, #1 in the league, committ to Maine) to see what they had for forwards, I found that their top scorer is already committed....TO NORTHEASTERN.

I'm glad he doesn't play and only his JOB is dependent on him finding people to perform and not allow 6 goals.

You're right because good players never have bad games or rough seasons. I demand 1st and 2nd year guys to make an immediate impact or they're dead to me.

Speed Racer

Weren't you the one who adored the coaching and recruiting of Bruce Crowder? Well he's not coming back. The last time I saw him (watching his son at a UMass-NU game) he was out of the hockey business and selling medical supplies.

You've been ragging on Cronin from Day One. What is your problem? Did he cut you from the team? Did he cut your boyfriend? There is no point in reasoning with someone as unreasonable as you. Perhaps the nearly unanimous reactions of the other posters will gve you pause: Consider the possibility that the only little soldier out of step here just might be you!

Did you guys kill all of the WCHA trolls? I didn't see one enter the Beanpot thread this year complaining about East Coast Bias, how the games shouldn't count towards BC and BU's records, or how western teams should be invited to play in it to show BC and BU what's up.

Regarding the subject of this thread: how stupid. After NU lost to 3 Atlantic Hockey schools in a row I thought they were cooked. They've obviously bounced back nicely and gave a great effort against BC tonight, which surprised me considering they've only beaten one team currently ranked in the PWR (Merrimack). Cronin seems to have NU on the right track and while he might not have them at the level of being a BU or a BC, they're definitely way better off than they were when he got here. They went from a perennial bottom feeder hoping to just make the HE playoffs to a team that will fight for a home ice spot and can contend for an NCAA tourney bid. I agree that if Rawlings becomes more consistent and they can get offensive effort like they did tonight, NU could surprise some folks and squeak their way back into the Garden in March.

haha! I would LOVE that! That would be the hardest I've ever cheered for the Eagles or Terriers.

This season...
WCHA vs. Hockey East's bottom 4 teams: 9-0-1 (woo! party!!)
WCHA vs. The other HEA they've played (BC, BU and Maine): 0-5-0

They really showed us how to pick off the weak and the young. Live it up, WCHA!

NU Speed Racer isn't a troll. He's delusional, but he's not a troll. Maybe he had a best friend from high school get cut by Cronin or something?

In fact....

over the last 5 years, the WCHA is 8-26-4 against BC, BU, UNH and Maine with 0 NCAA titles.

It has everything to do with that gosh darn east coast bias and nothing to do with competitive performance. Hockey East shakes and quivers to its obvious superior.

Well, UND choking on its own d* doesn't help things.

But other than that, it's charity. At least in the Gophers' case. ;)
