Covid 19

Thought you were not going to watch.

It is seriously compelling television. I'll probably view today's recorded briefing at the time I planned to watch the HEA semis. :(

Just like I wasn't going to post...well..I wanted to hear Dr. Fauci since I believe he tells it like it is without any BS. Since I have 2 family members who work in the media I was really pleased to see the push back. And lol'd watching the temper tantrum by our fearless leader. Yeah...compelling tv alright. But this part was most awful:

HHS secretary Alex Azar just BLAMED THE HEALTHCARE PROVIDERS for not having enough masks and swabs, saying essentially they just don't know anything and aren't listening to the info about where to get them "on the open market." Wow...maybe these people on the front lines are you know..risking their lives every single day? SMDH. Carry on..and be well. Enjoy those semis! Unh will be in a couple of those games?

More nailing it:

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Just left the Administration briefing on Coronavirus. Bottom line: they aren't taking this seriously enough. <br><br>Notably, no request for ANY emergency funding, which is a big mistake. jfc. Clearly you're ignoring actual facts including everything I provided previously that you've ignored.

Here's him nailing it yet again.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Trump, today: “The federal government's not supposed to be out there buying vast amounts of items and then shipping. You know, we're not a shipping clerk."<br><br>Trump, 3 weeks ago: <a href="https://t.co/q6dp0Yh1vk">https://t.co/q6dp0Yh1vk</a></p>— Jesse Lee (@JesseCharlesLee) <a href="https://twitter.com/JesseCharlesLee/status/1240737641584263170?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">March 19, 2020</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Thanks for posting this...there's so much video of him contradicting himself..if we survive this it wont be because of him I can tell you that...

In response to a question about what is your(trump’s) message to the American people?

How is this unfair? More like this bozo doesn’t know how to show compassion and concern so his response is blast the questioner..
No amount of rationale will satisfy you and the other Trump haters. It'll be interesting to see how you all react when he gets re-elected by a landslide!

Re: Covid 19

a lot of fast track approval comes from people wanting the new drug. NOW. it's very hard when you have a dying loved one. you want the new drug NOW. even if there is a chance of harm. the person is dying. like the new drug is going to do something worse than that??

I was lucky when Tom was dying. In this at least. The hospice was giving morphine. As the pain increased they had no problems with us (the family) increasing the dose as we saw fit. And increasing it again. And again. Keep the patient pain free was their mantra. I have friends who watched loved ones die in agony because pain meds were kept to a minimum to avoid addiction! Addiction!! When you are dying!

hf- I am not saying fast tracking is something that should not exist at all. Fot a case like mr hf, where the person is dying, there is a lot to gain by trying and not much to lose if you fail.

In medicine you have to weigh risk v benefit. If you try something that might end up causing harm or you have no idea if it will then that is not ethical unless you are down to no options.

I think my point is more that it is irresponsible and unethical to present this as something that is anything but a last ditch effort until they are more sure of what is happening. There are a number of possible cocktails being floated. China and Korea both have posted them in medical portals. It is not responsible to give the impression they are a panacea or that they are an answer. It can give false hope, make people feel like they don't have to be as careful, etc.

First directive- do no harm and that is not just to the patient but to their families, and the public. THink of what happens if these treatments fail on a grand scale. Even more people who do not believe the experts because someone who shouldn't have said something presented it as the truth

Wanted to let you know (whoever you are) … thanks for sharing, this was an interesting read. :)

Some of us were actually discussing some of the issues raised in your linked item a couple of days ago - in short, is the "cure" worse than the disease at some point - in what I thought was an objective and sober manner. I was hoping to come back to see more of that yesterday, but the regular "Orange Man Bad" programming had resumed, and I made the mistake of pushing back. So I'm out. Most of this audience isn't receptive to anything that doesn't fit their narratives. My advice - don't bother.

Such a leader and statesman:

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr"><a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/WATCH?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#WATCH</a>: Pres. Trump spars with NBC's Peter Alexander when asked about his response to Americans who are scared: <br><br>"I say that you're a terrible reporter. That's what I say. Donald Trump’s Cult of Personality Did This
The autocratic political culture that has propped up the Trump administration has left the nation entirely unprepared for an economic and public-health calamity.

What I am referring to is the fact that, soon after the coronavirus outbreak emerged in China, the rest of the world began to regard it as a threat to public health, while Trump has seen it as a public-relations problem. Trump’s primary method of dealing with public-relations problems is to exert the full force of the authoritarian cult of personality that surrounds him to deny that a problem even exists. This approach has paid political dividends for the Republican Party, in the form of judicial appointments, tax cuts for the wealthy, and a rapid erosion of the rule of law. But applied to the deadly pandemic now sweeping the planet, all it has done is exacerbate the inevitable public-health crisis, while leaving both the federal government and the entire swath of the country that hangs on his every word unprepared for the catastrophe now unfolding in the United States.

Trump’s first public remarks on the coronavirus came during an interview with the CNBC reporter Joe Kernen on January 22. Kernen asked, “Are there worries about a pandemic at this point?” To which Trump replied, “No. Not at all. And—we’re—we have it totally under control. It’s one person coming in from China, and we have it under control. It’s—going to be just fine.” In February, he falsely declared that “we are very close to a vaccine,” and that “within a couple of days [the number of cases] is going to be down to close to zero.” In early March, he was still urging Americans to ignore the issue, saying, “It will go away. Just stay calm. It will go away.”

Except Trump was not preparing. He was consciously contradicting his administration’s own public-health officials at the time. In February, while Trump was lying to the public about being “close to a vaccine” and that cases “were going to be down to close to zero,” the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention official Nancy Messonnier was telling reporters that Americans should get ready for “significant disruption to our lives.” The day after Trump told the public that “it will go away,” Anthony Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, testified to Congress that “we will see more cases, and things will get worse than they are right now.” Trump wasn’t trying to maintain firm resolve in the face of a crisis. He was lying to the public about the dangers it was facing in order to preserve his public standing.

No narrative here. Only respond to what the Orange man child says and does.

He was a POS before this. There is no reason he would stop being a POS now.

As usual we'll pick up after the apes.

Trump had the chance to be a true "war time" President here..but he blew it. Petulant spoiled brat...he cant help himself.

Re: Covid 19

I know nothing about this. Can someone tell me how this disease will "die"? How will doctors know when society is safe? The disease is passed from person to person. So, how do we know there's no chance of that means of infection? The disease can be passed via a surface contact. How do we know that there still won't be "live" infections in hotel rooms, airline seats, furniture in offices, etc? Does each "instance" of Covid have a lifespan? The more I think about it, it seems to me that we'll never be rid of it.

I can't believe he didn't confer with his incredible team on what to answer there! All that work assembling that incredible team and he doesn't check with them!

We'll never be "rid" of it. We still have the Black Plague around (right here in the USA, in fact) but we've built up immunity to it. Same with polio and other diseases we now have vaccines for. Eventually this will be part of the cocktail we give infants to protect them.
