Covfefe-19 The 12th Part: The Only Thing Worse Than This New Board Is TrumpVirus2020

Go read the hockey least thread. It reads like a kindergarten tantrum- I want my hockey.

Well in all fairness, Hockey East threads read that way long before this pandemic. Notre Dame's needless foray into Hockey East drove me and literally every other Notre Dame centric poster from the hockey board. A couple had been posting for more than a decade by the time they faded away. No time for their nonsense. Never had any issues with the old CCHA teams. Hell, the UM posters were some of our favorites on the board, and Michigan and Notre Dame hate each other in everything. One of my favorite posters from UM posts frequently in this very thread. He just roots for the wrong team! ;>)

Should we play a little game of over under?

What will be the PCR CT value drop down to after the Vaccine gets going?

Gotta make sure the vaccine looks like it is working so dropping the sensitivity of the test will help accomplish that. Because #Science!!!!

CT Value <30 ???

Currently CT is >40. And widely known that anything over 35 probably even 30 doesn’t find any active virus and the person isn’t even infected.

#Casedemic

The public information campaign is going to be hugely important. Biden gets it publicly. The past Presidents get it publicly. Get some athletes, movie stars, governors, etc..., to do the same. Doctors need to be able to tell people they got it.

Won't change any minds at all. This isn't 1976 anymore. Most people nowadays know more than the doctors and the public health experts anyway. I mean they are right to wonder what's in the vaccine, right?

Letitia Wright said:
Nor am I saying don’t take it. I’m just concerned about what’s in it that’s all. Isn’t that fair to question or ask?"

The same idiot who asks this question won't think twice about popping the tab on their Coke and chugging it down, or the can of Campbells Soup. They willingly and without question cook up whatever passes for ground beef from the local market. And I'm not saying they shouldn't do all those things with relative certainty that nothing contained within will kill them if they imbibe with moderation. So why do they question this vaccine or any other? It is utter madness.

I enjoy my time on the couple of internet forums I regularly post on, but the internet is the single most damaging thing to grow to prominence in the last century. Facebook has as much of an influence on someone's healthcare decisions as a physician who went to school for a dozen years and has practiced medicine for another dozen or more. Kep, brother, I love sharing these forum pages with you but you are wildly naive if you believe people are getting smarter. Smart people might be getting smarter, but the majority of people -- at least in this country -- are getting dumber.

It is not just the Dumpers. Our culture promotes that the squeaky wheel gets the grease. We reward and revere people who whine and complain enough so they get what they want. They are smart because they get what they are entitled to and no one is going to cheat them out of what they deserve/should have/should be able to do. Selfishness has become a respected trait. People also think they should be able to be special, that rules are a suggestion- they should be able to bend them just this once, do just this one thing (the killing words).

Now, when we need people to pull together, we have a bunch of people who achieved their perceived status by being d1cks and do not want to let that mentality go. Go read the hockey least thread. It reads like a kindergarten tantrum- I want my hockey. I have had to suffer thru 8 months of this pandemic. I don't care what happens to anyone, how dare they say I can't watch a game. And if they are challenged the response is equally infantile.

Hoping we get a critical mass of leaders/influencers- the previous Presidents, diff sports figures, different people from entertainment industry along with the experts and community leaders to drown out the message from the selfish, self absorbed.

Yeah Les, that thread is extremely messed up. Heck, Chuck even called me "numbnuts" yesterday. :) Needless to say, it didn't really have much of an effect as I just posted in the thread again. ;)

This sounds like panic - there is nothing to any of this we just need to go about our business as usual.

I mean there is good news - 2,718 deaths yesterday wasn't a new record. It's only the 4th highest single day total and the updated 7-day moving average is only the 2nd highest since April 26th.

Has anyone heard from geezer? He posted a few days back he was experiencing symptoms. I hope he’s OK.

It just constantly boggles my mind reading comments from idiots who keep saying this is nothing. Do they honestly not believe the numbers being reported?

You're wrong, to a point. There are a number of people on the fence regarding the vaccine because the thing feels rushed to a large number of people. Most vaccines take years to produce, but this was made in 6 months? That's understandable, and those are the people who will need the assurance of seeing high-profile people, and even their neighbors, who've taken the vaccine. The Hoaxers, they're lost causes regardless.

I was one of the people who was extremely skeptical about the vaccine- mostly because the Dump was trying to make it about politics and circumvent any of the experts. Currently we have Biden acting like the deFacto President and doing all the leading. The Dump has decided to play golf and stop participating in the world (well, I am sure he is tweeting but I am insulated from that). Taking Dump out of the equation was a game changer for me. I feel like the experts are back to having the ability to speak out, we are hearing a cohesive approach and someone is actually leading. If the Dump was still in, I would be much less likely to be ok with it. His ability to exert pressure, squelch reporting of science or alter it was not confidence inspiring.

I don't go into that thread often. In old Board I ignored the fan boyz. There are a few in there who are audiovisual aides for what you don't want your child to turn out like as far as character. They are also stupid and float the most ridiculous things that I know are false but can't say so because I am not supposed to know. Safer to stay out

net- you are a beacon of light in there. Honestly. There are no profile pics but my imagination has a few of them at about 4-5 yrs old stomping their feet, tantruming screaming, "BUT I NEEEEEED IT!"

What State do you live in? I would be happy to provide data with some context for you.

This is from Charlatan Governor Tim Walz. He is very well aware that this entire charade hinges on "Cases" and bundling everything up with no context.

Tim's plan to protect the Long term care population which is approximately 50,000 people (1% of the population)... Is for 5,640,000 million people to stay home, many lose their jobs, kids don't go to school, healthy people don't get together with other healthy people, wear dirty masks. Tim's plan does nothing to protect the 1% of the population "he cares so much about."

Charlatan Walz - We all have a role in protecting those most susceptible to COVID-19. Remember: The person next to you at the grocery store may work in long-term care. Your kids may go to daycare with children whose parents work in long-term care. Mask up, avoid groups, help slow the spread.

Nursing homes are 0.5% if population, and 40% of deaths. And a very small percentage of society works in nursing homes. It defies all logic to argue with a straight face that we can't successfully shield nursing homes, but can shield the entire world.

Karl Anthony Towns not only lost his mom to covid but said he’s lost six family members total. Seems to say all died from covid.

I don’t care, at least people got to go to sturgis and live their lives

It is probably time for a primer on testing as how we test is going to be changing soon, my prediction, in the next 90 days.

Currently most PCR tests have a CT (cycle threshold) of over 40 or even higher.

It is very well known that a positive PCR test with a CT over 35 is not detecting any infection. Even tests with a CT of 30 or higher are not detecting much if any infection.

No wonder sports leagues, NFL, ect. are contracting out and doing their own testing with a much lower CT.

I just got off a Zoom call with my brother and my dad to go over Christmas plans. My brother isn't coming up from SC because he refuses to get tested or be careful in any way, because "it's nonsense. No one here has it, I don't have it, and I refuse to waste time thinking about it."

There are millions of him.

A note about the vaccine as well, from what I've been able to learn about it.

Pfizer, Moderna and Oxford have been researching coronavirus vaccines for a couple of decades (Moderna isn't that old, but they've been working on SARS1 since it appeared). Pfizer and Moderna have also been at the vanguard of mRNA vaccines. The concept is over 30 years old (Oxford's is a traditional vaccine, not mRNA). Yes, these vaccines are developed on a crazy fast time scale. But one of the ways they've compressed the timeline is allowing phase II and phase III trials to be run concurrently, speeding things up by months. Also, because of the visibility of the disease itself, they've had a lot more success signing up testers. One of the reasons phase III trials usually take an eternity is that it takes a long time to get sufficient test subjects, and to get a sufficiently wide demographic and sufficiently wide array of healthcare situations in the patients (how many asthmatics, how many obese, how many other co-morbitities). That hasn't been an issue here.

Each vaccine is going through the same test structure as any other. They're just doing it in a shorter timeline.

mRNA vaccine technology is a potential revolution in vaccines. The promise of them is amazing. Honestly - go read about the tech. It's super cool, without promising unicorns and perpetual sunshine.

Moderna has credited their SARS1 research on their speed on SARS2, since they're very very similarly structured as well.

Wow your Bro isn't pretending to be sick when he is healthy. What a Knuckle Head.
