Well, we were running close to 3k some days in April, and those were all in a couple states, so it's not like that yet.

But TX, CA, and FL (and increasingly AZ which is unnerving since I have lots of family there) are taking a run at it.

If they keep it up for a few months all three of those states will pass NY's 30k deaths, something I never thought would happen. NY at least has the excuses that it was right at the beginning with no infrastructure, no lead time for public information, and having to create a logistics and care chain overnight in real time.

None of the states now have those excuses. And while it is of course tempting to lay the blame with DeathSentence in FL and the Generalized Idiocy of the GOP brain trust in TX, CA is also in on the fun and Newsom has a lot to answer for. He opened back up too. Huh, it looks like currying favor with corporations and the business lobby by murdering your own citizens might put a dent in your aspirations for higher office. Wouldn't that be a shame?

Of all the things that have happened that is worse than the deaths. Death happens and it is sad. Who knew there were legit that many a55holes who were willing to admit they are one?

Going to be fun to see what happens with Sturgis, SD, starting this next week. Normally I start to see a lot of motorcycles heading west, beginning about Tuesday or Wednesday, and everyone heading back east about a week later.

I know a couple of people who usually go, but decided to bail this year, but I suspect there will still be pretty sizable crowds.

Yeah, that is an interesting question. I suspect that crowd (which now probably has more dentists and accountants than it does mechanics and construction workers) is a fairly independent bunch and will be inclined to take their chances.

Canada tightens restrictions on traveling to Alaska.

Under the new Canadian rules, travelers can’t visit national parks or other tourism destinations. At the border, drivers will be given a tag to hang from their rear-view mirror emblazoned with the date they must be out of the country.

Failing to follow the new rules is punishable by fines of up to CDN $750,000 (US $560,000) and up to six months in prison.

Saw something that said it's estimated that 60-70% of all new infections are from super spreader events. In Civil War 2 we don't need guns, just virology.

Lincoln Project is butt hurt because they built a machine where every conservative thought and action was calculated to keep the heists rolling and Dump hijacked it for his personal enrichment. The rubes don't notice any difference but if the Plutes don't get their thefts they won't support the thugs.

Its not "their own states". Its the United States of America, we are all Americans. That partisanship in this country has become so bad that we view ourselves as 'Democrat' states and ' Republican' states is one of the reasons things are so bad today.

We are all Americans. Any policy designed to combat the virus should have as its utmost directive to protect American lives. All Americans.

The virus doesn't care if you're a Democrat or a Republican, live in a 'red' or 'blue' state, are a conservative or radical leftist.

The thing I don't get is everything Trump does is to better his chance of getting re-elected. People need to go back to work, and schools need to reopen because the economy needs to be humming again so Dump can get re-elected.

And yet they're too stupid to realize that if they'd just even had a half competent public response to this virus, Dumpie would be cruising to re-election right now.

But their brains don't work like that. Be competent, do the work, and do a good job, and people will reward you for that? **** that, that's too much work. Too hard.

The virus wants to infect you and use you to spread it so right now the virus is wearing a MAGA hat. An infection will always prefer people who meet it halfway.

If he had just admitted his mistake in April or May and shut things down fully for a month and taken the hit he would probably get re-elected. Now Joe Biden doesnt even need to campaign Trump campaigns against himself every day. And even in places where he has huge support...the GOP leaders who followed him are falling on the sword because of it. I mean when the co-founder of the Federalist Society thinks you are too far to the right...

Hell a President with any sense of PR or a staff that isnt a bunch of Yes Men would have been telling him to help NY right away if only to make yourself look like a magnanimous leader. (not to mention make Cuomo look weak) Instead he crapped all over them and propped up Flo(R)ida because they had no cases. Now the tables are flipped and it is literally all his fault. If he had just solved the problem in front of him instead of flailing around like a turtle flipped on its back he could have fixed all of this. Everyone was willing to work with him, hell Walz was even complimentary of him to placate his ego, and we had plenty of info on the right strategy because we saw what everyone else was doing. Since he didnt think he would get credit for it, and he didnt want to risk a short term lack of support he destroyed the economy and let tens of thousands more die. (and counting) He turned what should have been a 1 month hardship into what is likely to be a 9 month destruction of America. Sports are in jeopardy, restaurants are on a rolling open/close mandate schedule based on infections, travel is almost out of the question unless you are driving to the middle of nowhere and schools arent sure they should open.

At this point, anyone who defends him or how we as a country are fighting this (and god so many do) are just too stupid to even deal with anymore. I used to have enough patience to be able to talk politely to people who believed Obama was a Socialist Black Christian Muslim Terrorist who hated Whites and America and was going to end 2A and steal their guns...now I literally want to kick every person I see without a mask in a public place in the balls.
