They have their place - the Abbott Labs machines can run, using the same sample, multiple tests (RSV, flu, strep, COVID). They're great for urgent care clinics as they help quickly narrow problems down. They're also helpful for pre-procedure testing if the patient slipped through the cracks and didn't get the PCR test in time. Better to have a negative rapid test and have your colonoscopy or heart cath than to have to reschedule potentially weeks or months away.

Plus, since they return results in 15 minutes or less, in theory you can test many people many times, reducing the impact of false results.

Speaking of that, remember those big "tax cuts" Trump and the GOP rammed through in 2017 when they had a sweep of Congress?

Turns out there was an expiration date that's coming due, but because it's a 2021 expiration, that now becomes Joe's problem.

As for Pfizer, they had to tuck tail and correct their earlier report. No, no, not changing anything related to the vaccine, no, turns out they *were* a participant in Operation Warp Speed, but never accepted any Federal funds up front.

Expiration for individuals. The big corporate tax cut is permanent.

The 7-day average for daily deaths moved over 1,000 for the first time since August 22nd. 642 deaths for a Monday is the highest total since June freaking 1st. 5+ months later and the country can't get it's s**t together.

And nothing will be done in the short term. The President lost interest in April, actively campaigned against doing anything from September on, and now is busy figuring out ways to steal the election.

This is how it is until next year. It's nearly endemic now.

I am sure Gazelka will refuse to put through a cabinet post or 2 and pretend that we arent skyrocketing in cases. He will ignore that like how he ignored the people from his area who came down during the Floyd riots and set fires trying to incite more violence.
