Not to mention the damned neighbors whose trash is always spilling over off of their lawn onto others.
Once you’re at 700 cases a day you are already in trouble. Action needs to be taken BEFORE things get bad.
Obviously this is anecdotal, but I'd be inclined to disagree. From what I've seen Minnesotans have been pretty good about it, at least where I've been. I don't remember the last time I saw someone in a grocery store or public place without a mask. When I went to vote, everyone was wearing a mask and keeping a safe distance. I haven't been to any bars or anything like that, but those places where I've been seem to have good compliance.

Stores are ok. I’m seeing masks too, in metro area. I’m also told it’s not early as good once you’re out of the twin cities.
im more referring to everyone that still gathers indoors with friends and family. Heck my own extended family still gets together every week, despite seeing family friends catch it from kids and die. Holidays, birthdays, travel across the US- tons of people I know in Minnesota are still doing this, and so wearing a mask at target may prevent some from catching it from you, but there’s a crap ton of community spread happening outside of stores and restaurants

Maybe look where a lot of the spread is these days and look at how they treat mask mandates. While the metro areas are definitely still having issues (with higher compliance) the spread in the rural areas these days from everything I hear is the issue. Having driven around the state a lot during the Pandemic (nothing much else to do) I can say there is a definite difference in how the virus is dealt with. (also true in Wisconsin)
The places that were ripping Walz, the ones that now call him a tyrant (good god that is almost as funny as the Kamala Harris is a Socialist BS) are getting hit hard and it isnt a friggin coincidence.
To offset your anecdote my GF's therapist was spouting off the Faux News BS about death rates and how it isnt that big of a deal...in Hennepin County...yesterday. The Trumpers I know have been doing it since Day 1.

Another guy on the morning show I listened to got it. His whole family has it. (he actually lost a family member to it earlier in the Pandemic) He has no idea how they got it but for a day or so it seemed like a normal change of weather cold. They went and got tested anyways to make sure and found out. Said it still is mostly like a cold (though he is only a few days in) but it hits him in waves. One minute he feels like it is over (like a cold) and then 2 minutes later he wants to lay down in bed for the day and sleep it off. Alternating hot and cold flashes. Says it is mild but definitely scary.

That means there hadn’t yet been enough Covid infections among the trial participants to take a first stab at analyzing whether the people randomly assigned to receive vaccine were infected at a lower rate than people who were assigned to get a placebo injection.

NY and NJ have a higher proportion of deaths because people in the cities there are packed in like sardines, on the streets, on public transportation which I'm sure a greater percentage of their population uses to get back and forth to work, etc. They were the perfect petrie dish for this virus to incubate and spread.
The only reason your Midwestern states haven't got there yet is one; time, and two; their population density isn't as great. Look at their numbers per million or whatever benchmark you choose. Also, give them time. It takes longer for the virus to infect people 50 at a time at the legion hall potluck supper than it does thousands riding the subway every day.

Hovey...most experts state we need 85-90% mask wearing compliance, along with legitimate buy in to social distancing to really get control of the virus. As a nation, I believe we are at less than 60% mask wearing. And, we certainly aren't social distancing as well as we need to. I'll also second Stauber's comment regarding our neighbors, along with stating that the only reason we aren't as bad as they are at the moment, is due to the fact that Walz put our masking mandate in as early as he did. Unfortunately, I suspect we will be in a more restrictive gathering scenario -- no bars or gyms or theatres and restaurants at 25% capacity or take out only -- by Thanksgiving or even earlier. Possibly no indoor sports either. Especially considering the fact that both Massachusetts and New Hampshire stopped all youth and high school hockey for at least two weeks.

That's the scariest part of ND and SD to me. They are among the most rural states and yet they are leading the league in per capita cases. That's got to be from willfully ignoring safe practices due to political idiocy.

Really Jeb?...That's funny because literally E.V.E.R.Y. infectious disease expert or group of experts says I'm right and you're wrong. How do you account for that?
