I am guessing that there's a lot of GOP members with large stakes in that company's stock. Plus you have DeSantis who bought like a million doses of it for Florida, and is now just sitting on them. Feds probably have huge stockpiles too that Jared's buddies want to unload for big profit.

Government spending tax payer dollars is just fine if someone is making a TON of money when it's done. Don't we know that by now? Corporate welfare is totally ok.

On the other hand, helping people survive- in any form- food, shelter, health, etc- is a bad thing. We can't help poor people nearly as much as we help rich people- they are so very needy. Pathetic that anyone justifies laying hospital workers off for cost reasons when there are so many new cases of Covid19. That just is a clear demonstration of their moral code (see jeb and his fellow morons). How people are so talked into that position just illustrates their total lack of being able to think on their own.

Texas scrambling to kiss the ring hours after trump says schools must open.

schools in Texas must offer in person classes or they get no funding. Parents can choose remote learning option but schools have to provide in person learning

I believe the California governor has threatened to withhold funding for police departments that refuse to help enforce mandatory mask rules. THAT is funding that SHOULD be withheld. Yet another reason to be embarrassed about the country we live in, law enforcement officials deciding unilaterally which laws or ordinances they will enforce and which they won't. I guess that means I am free to ignore the law that says I can't run down the next cop I see on the side of the road.

Why the US is falling behind in COVID-19 fight.

New daily cases in the U.S. have spiked to a high of around 50,000, a glaring contrast with the European Union, where new case growth has largely been flattened and suppressed. The EU is averaging around 4,000 new cases per day, according to Our World in Data, less than a tenth of the new cases in the U.S., despite having about 100 million more people.

Major European countries for the most part had much stricter and more sustained lockdowns than the U.S. did, allowing the virus to be suppressed to low levels before they tried to reopen. Elsewhere, notably South Korea, an aggressive system of testing, treatment and isolation was able to suppress the virus without resorting to a full lockdown. Other places have had success in part due to mandatory mask requirements throughout the country.

All of these elements are missing in the United States. And more broadly, experts say the U.S. simply does not seem to be taking the virus as seriously as other countries.

U-S-A! U-S-A!

Texas is seeing a surge in the number of people testing positive for the coronavirus since it began aggressively loosening restrictions on gatherings in May. To see the impact, @AP journalists visited United Memorial Medical Center in north Houston.

‘The swamp is alive and well in Washington, D.C.’ — 40 lobbyists with ties to Trump got $10 billion of federal coronavirus aid for their clients.

The lobbyists worked in the Trump executive branch, served on his campaign, or were part of his presidential transition

Ivies cancel sports through 12/31/20.

Each time a league does the right thing it becomes more difficult for the less, ahem, academically inclined leagues to push through. The Ivies woke everybody up in March, hopefully this does the same for 20-21.

See you on the other side in September 2021, folks.

By July 31 we'll have word that there won't be any sports until 2021.. It's when, not if the announcement is made. It's just a question of whether the SEC breaks off and has non-NCAA football....

I'm figuring that you jest.... But if they do that, it would mean they would never win an NC ever again. Nobody would play them, especially if they break off this year when other schools don't play. The symbolism of playing football 1) in the middle of a pandemic with 2) maybe no students in a 3) active location.... None of that would be appealing to any other school, IMHO. Especially the admission that it's not about student athletes.

Stupid people think that a test that might give false positives, or false negatives, is something they can use to own the libs on internet message boards, rather than instead be pizzed that their government won't develop something that works better to prevent more people from dying.

Looks like yesterdays death numbers weren't a fluke after all.

So, cases, hospitalizations, and now deaths all going up. All because we're testing more.

How politics obviously has control on just about your entire way of life is sad and pathetic.

I'm not the one getting his jollies playing partisan political troll on the internet.

What a sad, pathetic life you must have.
