Re: Covfefe-19 The 10th Part: Might As Well Reject No Shirt, No Shoes While You're At

So, with regards to the Fair, what do you think would be worse - saying today no Fair or, saying it's going to happen, then a huge spike in cases in the next month, and the announcement that they have to cancel now? It would be cool if they said "we had to cancel because when we re-opened, you didn't follow the rules we put in place so it's basically your fault."

Also, I heard the Mohegun Sun casino in Connecticut is opening June 1. ::face palm:: That's going to be a **** show in my opinion.

I think the Vegas casinos are probably going to start re-opening at about the same time. They haven't really announced anything yet, but their hotels are taking reservations for as early as June 1. I expect the big casino companies will just open a couple of casinos at a time, probably because they don't expect a huge influx of tourists right away.

I was responding more in general not to you specifically :)

Re: Covfefe-19 The 10th Part: Might As Well Reject No Shirt, No Shoes While You're At

I think they should just say no fair today. Too many vendors have to line up kids to work and product. That has to be done sooner rather than later.

Agreed. The Fair obviously partially believes that as well because they are meeting. My experience with the mafioso that is The Fair tells me they will win out though.

If they decide to stay open and close later the amount of money lost by the small businesses that rely on that 10 days will be EPIC. There will be no way to fix it. Cancel early and they can plan out a strategy.

And 45 seconds is a bit generous.

A sobering report to be sure.

The U.S. could have prevented roughly 36,000 deaths from COVID-19 if broad social distancing measures had been put in place just one week earlier in March, according to an analysis from Columbia University.

While the findings are still awaiting peer review, I'd have to think funding from sources like the National Institutes of Health and The National Science Foundation and Columbia University conducting the study should give one confidence that the science behind it is sound.

When trump's time comes I hope he dies a slow and painful death.

Walz is praying they decide on their own to close...but no way they do. I dont think he will do it on his own.

I agree. This is a meeting where they decide whether or not they'll make Walz the bad guy. I've been running under the assumption that the fair is cancelled for well over a month now.

What is science?
Wonder how they snuck that past Redmond.

Whoever posted that link to the article and list of what measures each State met- thank you, thank you!

They really need a shocked face emoji. He is less articulate than usual. When oh when is the arrhythmia going to kick in? Soon would be nice.

I know we have alternate facts but I never knew actual numbers and facts could have political leanings. 36,000 is liberal? 0 is GOP. I wonder what independent is

MSM reports both and takes the average.

FWIW, a StarTrib poll has 65% saying too dangerous, 22% saying open it, and 13% saying wait with decision.

Good...but I bet the comments section makes NextDoor Blush. Some of the commenters on the Strib are downright scary.

I like that Trump basically confirms that in the real world facts have a liberal bias :D

My only beef with the study is say we did react earlier. That "See, we over-reacted" blue area of the graph we've all seen would be much earlier. Once we start to open back up, there is no putting that toothpaste back in the tube. Say we saved 36,000 lives, do we lose all of them and more as we do a mass reopening too early? I don't know, but it would have been nice to have 36,000 Americans still alive, to put it mildly.

This was established after conservatives rejected evolution in the 19th century. Reality, science, and reasoned skepticism are liberal. In compensation, conservatives have faith, authority, and gut certainty.

Yeah but he basically said it out loud. The man has zero internal monologue.
