Re: Covfefe-19 Part 9: Shelter In Place is Temporary, but Wu-Tang is Forever

Fine, but as someone trained in epidemiology I’m Going to point out incorrect or incomplete statements when I see them.

There are people out there pointing out there is zero increase in cases, picking and choosing their spots, also. Those people are also not looking at the overall picture. ;)

OVERALL, from what we know, the spread is slowing. Slowing being the key word. Still the first wave. There hasn't been a complete lull. When we reach a complete lull, that is when the second wave starts.

Are those enough crossed t's and dotted i's for you? Sheesh. I forgot that this is the internet and everyone needs everything spelled out for them because they can't understand a general idea or thought. :p

Re: Covfefe-19 Part 9: Shelter In Place is Temporary, but Wu-Tang is Forever

You think I can’t understand a general idea or a thought because I pointed out something you said wasn’t accurate? Christ.

I’ve not seen anyone on this board state as many inaccuracies on this topic than you.

Well, it's spreading like crazy!!!!!!!! In certain spots. Particular spots.

Um, no kidding. It's also NOT spreading at all in certain spots. Particular spots.

So, overall, the spread, with the info we have, is slowing down. It's obviously still not good, but it's better than a month ago.

Get it?

We don't know this is true. You are just plain wrong to state this as fact. We are not doing enough testing and we are still not doing testing in the right way for those tests we are doing, and we are not anywhere near close to doing effective tracing to have more than barely educated guesses at this point. You are the very manifestation of the difficulty this country has in dealing with complex problems. People who are not experts act like they know more than the experts. People are not willing to accept that we don't know everything. People think everything should have easily knowable answers. And when none of that fits, we move the goalposts.

He’s the expert. Don’t argue

Sigh. FROM WHAT WE KNOW. That does not mean we know everything at this point. We are going on what we know at this point in time. This is not difficult to understand. Next week? Hopefully we know more, and adjust decisions based again on....guess what? WHAT WE KNOW.

WE DON’T KNOW ANYTHING!

That’s the point that’s trying to be made.

Pretty sure we know some things. 3 months ago we knew nothing. That's the point that is trying to be made.

This is the exact same thing as me saying ANYTHING at all about the sport cricket. I know there is a game called cricket, and I believe it is popular in India. From that am I able to ascertain anything of substance about it? No.

Doctors and epidemiologists all over the country are trying to piece together enough information and data but our woeful inability to be prepared for a crisis has hampered that to the point of criminal neglect, as far as I'm concerned. And because of that no one in their right mind, and certainly no one who is on the front lines trying to help us find a way out of this is willing to say we have any concrete answers on whether or not the spread is truly slowing.

In some parts of the country it looks like it might be slowing, while in others, it looks like it is not. But that is all it is, a look. In reality, we are operating in near blindness, because some states are reporting faulty numbers, some states are testing more people, some states are testing a different subset, and nowhere is effective tracing or isolation being mandated. And in all cases the president is spreading false information. The fact is, 3 months into this, the only way we are closer to the end is if the virus was to actually, miraculously disappear, as dear leader said it would in early March.

Except FROM WHAT WE KNOW it isnt slowing at all. The new cases isnt RISING but it isnt slowing because on average it isnt going down. Go over the charts if we were slowing down the chart would show a descending line not a plateau or ascending line.

https://coronavirus.jhu.edu/map.html (click on the graph in the lower right corner)

It isnt slowing down. It is remaining consistent no matter our testing numbers. And now it is not just rising because of a massive outbreak on the East Coast...it is rising across the country.

I get what you are trying to say, but your entire thesis is wrong. Not kind of wrong COMPLETELY wrong. You cant say "it is slowing down in some areas" because we havent tested enough people to know that. Even NY/NJ cant really say it because they can only test the symptomatic and the antibodies test is not accurate. Plus we still dont know if people are immune once they recover. (or what other conditions might arise)

You are speaking to trends when we havent even made it close to far enough to guess. I used this before (back in March) but you are trying to figure out what the score of the game will be and we havent even finished the first quarter yet. All we know is how many people have gotten it of those we tested and how many people have been tested. Those numbers are so insufficient we cant say otherwise. With those numbers though we can definitely prove the numbers arent slowing...in fact they are in a steady groove.

So this is happening...

Re: Covfefe-19 Part 9: Shelter In Place is Temporary, but Wu-Tang is Forever

Yeah all the excess mortality will be accounted for...how?

Re: Covfefe-19 Part 9: Shelter In Place is Temporary, but Wu-Tang is Forever

We know:

Social distancing helps.
Masks are not really effective, but they are better than nothing (edit: except N95)
Elderly are way more susceptible, as well as people with other certain underlying health issues.
Half-lifes on various surfaces that have been touched by the virus.
A general variance on fatality rate overall (although that range will narrow in scope as more testing happens)
We know what drugs are NOT working (that was a big f-up, however)

Compare that to what we knew in Feb/early March. There's a long way to go. We are making progress, though.

Blocked by ads/adblock. Did the person know they had it? If so? Burn in hell. If they didn't...well, crap. That sucks. :(

Oh dear God, you are really start to sound as bad as some of the MAGAs. We already knew about social distancing. We knew that in 1918. We know nothing more about masks now than 3 months ago. They help some, if worn right and by everyone, but as for the coronavirus we don't know enough yet about masking up. Do it, yes, because it can't hurt and can only help. Nothing new there. We have always known the elderly are more susceptible to complications from respiratory diseases. We actually don't know the life of a virus on any surface. Some guesses, yes, but 3 months ago we had guesses. We have no clue as to the actual fatality rate because we have zero clue as to how many people have actually been infected. As for what drugs are not working, this is ridiculous because there are 1000s of drugs and we already knew most were proscribed. The key is finding one that we know has some effectiveness, and we're not there. So I just blew your entire post out of the water. Delete yours and I'll delete mine so you won't look incredibly foolish.

They didn’t- they tested positive the next day

CA has banned all large gatherings. This church and it’s morons defied the order. People blatantly disobeyed and now are spreading it by going to a non essential service.

So they can burn.
