Covfefe-19 Part 9: Shelter In Place is Temporary, but Wu-Tang is Forever

Re: Covfefe-19 Part 9: Shelter In Place is Temporary, but Wu-Tang is Forever

I’m now at menards doing curbside (technically lumberyard since that’s how they’ve set it up). All employees at both stores wore masks and gloves. No contact necessary, though I had to slide the receipt through the window to leave the yard. That part was a little janky.

I’m hoping I’ll have my mask in hand next time knowing how it’s going to work. Need to protect those people too.

I have eliminated going anywhere since the third week of March, other than to my local grocery stores. I go to one about 3 times every two weeks and the other one I have been to 4 times since March. The only time I have set foot inside any other retail is the times work has forced me to the Twin Cities, and I hit up the Target by my hotel one time each trip.

Interestingly, the Janesville WI grocery store is the place with the most adherence to social distancing guidelines. By now most customers are wearing masks, all the employees are masked and gloved, and there have been plexiglass separators at all the checkout aisles for weeks now. I have noted that I have seen a number of couples, usually my age or older, where the woman is masked, but the man is not. Sad, but not surprising.

Now that bars, restaurants and bowling alleys can open up in Wisconsin, I wonder what my employer is now going to require of me, since up until Mid-March, almost all of my regular membership meetings took place in facilities like that. Just what I need, 15 or 20 coronavirus deniers all gathered in a room yelling at me and each other. Oh well, it's been my dream since childhood to become a statistic.

Re: Covfefe-19 Part 9: Shelter In Place is Temporary, but Wu-Tang is Forever

I saw people at Costco without them the other day...and of course some who have them on not covering parts (or any!!!) of their face.

This is why I am continuing SIP. People are stupid. I will go out for what I need (with a mask) and places where I can distance (like a walk or something) and that is it. I am not risking myself and others by being around a bunch of privileged *******s and whiny soccer moms and their disease infested kids.

I've had good luck grocery shopping going in the half hour before closing. Usually not more than a few people in the store and I always wear an N95 and gloves.

Boston did an antibody test in the hardest hit communities and found only 10% had them. The people they tested were people who had not previously tested positive for Covid-19. We have a long ways to go.

The lessons learned here are important, despite the usual suspect coming in to scream that we’re not them!!!!

I'm doing drive thru and curbside pickup at restaurants. Really don't want to go in if I can help it.

In the City of Chicago locations. most fast food restaurants have closed their lobbies and are Drive Thru only.

which certainly makes it interesting on what establishment to stop at now when one needs pee when you're working in the field like I do.

MLB did a study of employees. Roughly 5700 samples taken in mid April. Their anti-body testing was only 0.7%

But the herd immunity!!

The only thing dumber than the sports leagues forcing themselves open are the stupid fans who think that are foaming at the mouth for it. NFL fans being the worst. (followed by college football)

Demographically, NASCAR is probably the worst, with footbaw next.

We are supposed to go open my Auntie's cottage in about a month in Maine. We usually go up in the AM, bringing everything we need, take off the storm shutters, bring up the furniture, do outside stuff and a little de-cobwebbing and head home the next morning. Not sure how we are supposed to figure out what we are supposed to be doing. It is in the woods and we could manage without ever seeing someone else. Can't figure out whether this is 'illegal' or not. We would need to drive out of state, thru NH into Maine. Depending on who you talk to this is fine or not. We would have to quarantine or not there and here.

Germ theory wise we would be ok. We could stay in our container and not interact with anyone. But what each State is saying? It is so confusing with all the different rules, changing recommendations and the CDC putting out things based on politics rather than science.

Meanwhile the Auntie usually gives each part of the family time at the cottage every summer. We are trying to get her to rethink that- some parts of the fam are posting deep state hoax stuff.

.

Legal in Maine if you bring everything you need with you. Visitors from out of state need to be prepared to quarantine for 14 days in a private residence (they are not allowed to rent a hotel or short term rental until they have quarantined in Maine). Since you’re staying less than 14 days you will be quarantined for your stay. No grocery store trips, etc.

Thanks. Your website is really nice. It took me a little digging to find the quarantine order. Where we go is a Rural county with less restrictions but moot. Those are the counties that will end up in trouble because they have less restrictions and the influx of people will bring risk. I know where I go they have a lot of touristy traffic in the local town (15 min away).

I know I will follow the rules but I can just about guarantee that the people coming later in the summer won't. Not so sure about my bro and his wife. He is intellectually brilliant and also amazing at rationalizing why he should be able to bend rules. Adding variables into a place that is doing well is scary.

Actually under the executive order grocery store trips are probably allowed.... “immediately self-quarantine for 14 days or for the balance of 14 days dating from the day of arrival, except when engaging in essential services as defined in Executive Order 19FY 19/20.“

Then when you look at 19FY 19/20 it contains things like trips to the pharmacy / grocery store etc...

Hmmm. This is why things are so confusing. It should be what BassAle said. If you leave the 'container' then you are putting others at risk.

Most people with seasonal homes won't travel with things like food, toiletries, and other small items. You buy things like that at your destination. This is no different.
