Re: Covfefe-19 Part 9: Shelter In Place is Temporary, but Wu-Tang is Forever

Do you remember the middle part though? It's actually kinda slow. Mary was getting paid by the word.

No sadly...that was quite a few years ago. I remember loving the ending though :D

I bet I still have it around here somewhere...maybe I will read it again this summer while everyone else is getting sick going to restaurants and wasting their money.

Law enforcement in Michigan would have been within their rights to confront the protesters at the capital.

They did once the protesters entered the capitol building (to prevent them from entering the chamber), but they legally couldn't stop them from going up to the gallery with weapons, "thanks" to a lunatic law passed by Republicans a few years back.

Re: Covfefe-19 Part 9: Shelter In Place is Temporary, but Wu-Tang is Forever

I had an otherwise intelligent system engineer once tell me (at Hooters; different story) that "actually, nobody has to pay taxes unless they are directly employed by the federal government" because of something he heard on a Hate Radio broadcast. Your story reminded me of that sovereign citizen stupidity -- I assume it was something like that.

The IRS used to have a spot on their website that listed something like the 25 "most popular" arguments used by people to claim they don't have to pay taxes or file a return. Everything from the way the constitutional amendment was passed to sovereign citizen arguments. They gave citations for cases where the arguments were used and the people went to jail. Next to youtube, it was one of the most enjoyable ways to waste an afternoon on the internet.

I’m at Home Depot doing curbside pickup for a few things. The place is ****ing jampacked and half the people aren’t wearing masks going in.

Why is this hard? Wear a GD mask. I’m glad target and Costco are not letting people in without them.

Re: Covfefe-19 Part 9: Shelter In Place is Temporary, but Wu-Tang is Forever

So it appears now Trump and his cronies have pivoted from "Obama left us no plan to fight this" to "his plan sucked so we came up with our own". Not sure that is the right tact there geniuses...

Natural pivot. The thing is no matter what the narrative is it always works with the horde. I've never seen such an unthinking unpondering unable to come to their own conclusion group of idiots in my lifetime. No group has been worse than the Dumpers.

I saw people at Costco without them the other day...and of course some who have them on not covering parts (or any!!!) of their face.

This is why I am continuing SIP. People are stupid. I will go out for what I need (with a mask) and places where I can distance (like a walk or something) and that is it. I am not risking myself and others by being around a bunch of privileged *******s and whiny soccer moms and their disease infested kids.

It and Dracula both stand up. obviously the language is stilted but once you get past that (and it only takes a few pages TBH) they are each wonderful books.

I have never read Jekyll. I think I will do that next. In fact I don't think I have ever read any Stephenson, and that is a crime.

I went to Home Depot three weeks ago to pick up a couple things because I was already out, saw the parking lot and kept driving. Ordered the stuff online.

I did the EXACT same thing. Dr. Mrs. can wait for her frickin succulents. I'm not going to die for an echeveria.

I went to one in St. Louis park two weeks ago. Got my stuff, backed out of parking space. Meanwhile some mouth breather backs her SUV out and doesn’t see me but is facing me and can’t get around- so I had to back up. She waves her windows down and just starts screaming and ranting (no mask) calling me a c u n t and flipping the bird.

I’m not going back anytime soon

That's the same location I drove past. Considered going to Fridley instead, but figured that while it may not be as busy, the people in it are probably worse. :D

I was at a stoplight near cabelas and it was privilege central.

Mrs. 316 and I are staying home as much as possible with curbside for at least two more weeks. We want to gauge the spread.

Yeah had that happen at Menards...though we went back during the week and it was better.

I will say though at Menards people were wearing masks at least half the time

That parking lot (along with that Costco) are dangerous beyond belief. I dont go there unless I am desperate.

Re: Covfefe-19 Part 9: Shelter In Place is Temporary, but Wu-Tang is Forever

I'm doing drive thru and curbside pickup at restaurants. Really don't want to go in if I can help it. At Meijer and Target, I've had good luck with distancing and masks. Some gas stations though are terrible. One I walked in, the clerk and the other customer weren't wearing a mask at all.

I kind of set a July 1 date but it is flexible.

I am supposed to travel the third week in July (hasnt been cancelled yet) and that too is sort of on a July 1st date. By then we will know where we are at and I can (likely) cancel it.

Re: Covfefe-19 Part 9: Shelter In Place is Temporary, but Wu-Tang is Forever

Things I'd like to say to anti-mask people:

"Life does not stop and start at your convenience, you miserable piece of ****."- Walter Sobchak

Improvise, Adapt, Overcome!

You are weak and will never survive the apocalypse.

If you think wearing a mask is tyranny, wait until you find about the no shirt, no shoes policy!

Let me guess, you think "no bra or sock money" is also tyranny?

"If you don't want to play, then you might as well quit..."- The Eagles

"A man said to the universe, 'sir, I exist.' Yes, said the universe, but the fact has not created in me a sense of obligation."- Stephen Crane

It's a courtesy to other people. Thanks for letting me know you're a selfish tool. In fact, you're a five tool tool.

You're in church at 10 AM on Sundays, and then at 12:01, you hurl abuse at retail employees. Just like Jesus would do, right?

But they've done that with everything: "That never happened. Ok, it happened, but the president didn't know anything about it. Ok, he knew, but what he did was perfectly appropriate."

I’m now at menards doing curbside (technically lumberyard since that’s how they’ve set it up). All employees at both stores wore masks and gloves. No contact necessary, though I had to slide the receipt through the window to leave the yard. That part was a little janky.

I’m hoping I’ll have my mask in hand next time knowing how it’s going to work. Need to protect those people too.
