Re: Covfefe-19 Part 9: Shelter In Place is Temporary, but Wu-Tang is Forever
I have eliminated going anywhere since the third week of March, other than to my local grocery stores. I go to one about 3 times every two weeks and the other one I have been to 4 times since March. The only time I have set foot inside any other retail is the times work has forced me to the Twin Cities, and I hit up the Target by my hotel one time each trip.
Interestingly, the Janesville WI grocery store is the place with the most adherence to social distancing guidelines. By now most customers are wearing masks, all the employees are masked and gloved, and there have been plexiglass separators at all the checkout aisles for weeks now. I have noted that I have seen a number of couples, usually my age or older, where the woman is masked, but the man is not. Sad, but not surprising.
Now that bars, restaurants and bowling alleys can open up in Wisconsin, I wonder what my employer is now going to require of me, since up until Mid-March, almost all of my regular membership meetings took place in facilities like that. Just what I need, 15 or 20 coronavirus deniers all gathered in a room yelling at me and each other. Oh well, it's been my dream since childhood to become a statistic.
I’m now at menards doing curbside (technically lumberyard since that’s how they’ve set it up). All employees at both stores wore masks and gloves. No contact necessary, though I had to slide the receipt through the window to leave the yard. That part was a little janky.
I’m hoping I’ll have my mask in hand next time knowing how it’s going to work. Need to protect those people too.
