Re: Covfefe-19 part 6: Waiting For Advice from Kid Rock and Tiger Woods now.

NY added 7600 cases today
Florida 974 cases today
Pennsylvania added 1470
Georgia and Indiana over 500 each

Passed 10k dead...my guess is we pass H1N1 this time Wednesday at the latest.

(these are from Worldometer...obviously plenty of states havent reported yet or reported early numbers)

And Obama did such a ****ty job with H1N1. Dimwit Donnie told me so.

Re: Covfefe-19 part 6: Waiting For Advice from Kid Rock and Tiger Woods now.

Hey I ripped him two days ago for it...I am not defending his statements and I am not saying he shouldnt have been ripped or that he still shouldnt be criticized. I am saying unlike most people he actually said "I was wrong, we were wrong and I am sorry". You have to give him some credit for that otherwise why would anyone, anywhere, every admit they are wrong about anything?

He should know better, because he does the same things to people. But you cant freeze anyone out who makes a mistake or is wrong. This isnt a political debate this is life and death and if he pivoted and is giving the proper advice now (I have no idea I never watch or listen to his show) then just leave it be.

I'll forgive him, but he should not be called a doctor. That's the result of serious malpractice in the normal world- he should have to face the same outcome.

Re: Covfefe-19 part 6: Waiting For Advice from Kid Rock and Tiger Woods now.

I mean, "addiction medicine" is over half bullsh*t guesswork anyway and requires a willingness on the part of the addict to participate. So I question if the guy has even practiced real medicine in years.

But he didn't make a mistake, and he wasn't "wrong". He was deliberately pushing the story that this was no big deal. If he had just made a wrong call, he wouldn't have still been pushing this while NY was being overwhelmed.

What his reasons for doing so we may never know, but that's how it is. So no, sorry. he's just another doosh with an agenda.
I know I’m in the minority on “forgiveness”, but in all seriousness, what’s the benefit to refusing apologies? Do you think this guy will suffer more because you won’t accept his apology (and that that would be a positive)? Do you hope the people who listen to him (assuming there is anyone) never get the correct information that might save their lives? How is any of that better than, “thank you, that’s actually correct.”

As long as he doesn’t claim to be an MD, I assume it means he has a terminal degree (in broadcasting or whatever). I work with tons of people who have never been near a hospital who insist on the “doctor” title.

I don't think you're in the minority. My policy is forgive don't forget. Always provide positive reinforcement for bad actors who are contrite, but don't forget they've taught us something about themselves with their bad action. In this case, Dr. Drew's credibility with the public takes a hit, and that is significant for him since that's what he monetizes. It doesn't affect my impression of him because I wrote him off long ago as an empty entertainer.

"I accept your apology" does not equal "that was okay."

That's up to the AMA and the network that employs him.

To be honest, the apology video was all I’ve ever seen of “Dr. Drew”, so I’m just spitballing here on his intrinsic human value. For all I know he could be DJ Trump’s illegitimate basterd and should be silenced forever. I’m more agreeing with your general principle.

"I didn't spend 3 years in evil graduate school to be called Mr./Ms., thank you very much!"

Yeah, the ducks in the parks around my place have started to get a lot braver around the few people who are out.

I like that he's in the correct lane and observing the signal.

There is a video on YouTube of a civet in India or somewhere, thought extinct for 20 years, strolling the downtown. The bat/pangolin/raven/dolphin alliance war panel is meeting somewhere right now and rubbing their furry little paws together in glee.

He has a MD and did a residency in internal medicine

Bingo. Every time he gives advice someone should (and will) make sure to hammer home how ridiculous and wrong he was about this. He blew his reputation trying to stay in the spotlight on Faux and he should never live that down. But anyone willing to admit, in real time (not years later like most do) that they screwed up should be welcomed to do so.

Drew should just stay in his lane, he does good work with addiction and that is where he should confine his advice to. (and even there he is but one of many voices) The more he pretends to be an expert on other things the more he becomes Dr. Oz.

Drew became famous as the cohost of Loveline...but his "specialty" is recovery and addiction. He runs a rehab center and had a show on VH1 called "Celebrity Rehab" where he had famous junkies try and get clean. It is blatant pandering and he is a salesman for sure, but as someone who knows people who work both in rehab and who have been in rehab the methods he employs are solid. Problem is not many people who really need it can afford to go to places like his. (or say Hazelden)

Beyond that I know nothing about him except he definitely has an ego and likes the spotlight.

edit: I forgot he did a residency in internal medicine thanks Bassale. He uses that to give himself more "authority" when speaking on stuff outside of recovery.

I read an article that said carbon emissions are going to experience the biggest drop since WW2. Well Played Mother Nature.

That picture of the coyote is like a scene from I Am Legend
