That's how smaller government is supposed to work. So that people can avoid paying taxes and making more money.

Just let them eat cake.

Yeah, those workers were supposed to be saving for a rainy day, not sucking the gubmint teat at the first sign of trouble!

If you pay them not to work, they're just gonna sit home on their azzes.

What happens when you elect people who don't believe government works. They take office and then prove it.

3M has become the new target of the MAGA dick heads. The Florida director of emergency management said 3M was shipping masks overseas to other countries. Turns out it was USAID, but whatever.

The state has done nothing but thumb its butt for two months now they’re on a campaign to blame everyone but themselves.

So, how in the hell did Trump (never mind) get that so screwed up that he tweeted that ****? Seriously? Who got the story wrong?

A quick google search answers my question. Geeesh, what a mess.

This virus must just decimate large, densely populated slums in places like Rio and Mumbai, and it would seem that countries like India and Bangladesh would show a fast peak and high death rate.

BBC had a piece within the last day or two about the favela presidents pushing back on Bolonsaro's claims that Brazil has the virus under control.

We're going to see this from every authoritarian (Bolsonaro, Dump, Putin, Xi, Kim, Lukashenko, Assad, Netanyahu, Modi, MBS). We'll never get decent counts in the third world countries. In countries with advanced medical infrastructure the counts will be distorted as much as those thugs can. Our red states won't officially report real numbers for years.

Not unusual. Street gangs in places where the government has broken down are also typically social service providers. Hezbollah. The IRA. The Mafia. Triad.

If I'm off base with this, let me know:

Wouldn't COVID ravaging a place like Mumbi or Rio show that this virus isn't affected by warm weather? It seems like that would be a pretty good "Oh ****!" litmus test for this. If that's the case, we are looking at 15+ months of Shelter in Place and that is scary :eek:
