Re: Covfefe 19: now in 3D

Some states are taking measures but the federal government hasn't done a thing - except spend $2.2 trillion to bail out Wall Street and the House passed a compromise bill that extends sick leave to workers at smaller companies but exempts industries with over 500 workers (leaving 55% of the workforce uncovered. Remember that when the drive-thru attendant hands you your Big Mac.

Big businesses should eat that expense, like Ronaldo is doing.

Yeah., like that's gonna happen.

Re: Covfefe 19: now in 3D

And they will be. That giant sucking sound you will hear will be all the money that will be pumped into States that do not believe in socialism.

Let's not do that this time. Srsly, we control the House. Vote no. Moral hazard. They should pull themselves up by their bootstraps.

IINM this is the most progressive measure by any governor so far. Good for him!

I wonder if most/all of the blue governors will follow? I assume the reds will pray to Freedumb and perish.

Whitmer in Michigan ordered all bars and restaurants to close at 3pm today. (Exceptions for restaurants are they can still operate as take-out/delivery).

For Rube. This is why you stay the **** home.

Ronaldo is a freaking superhero. So are people like Mark Cuban, JJ Watt, Zion, Kevin Love. Paying out of their own pockets to cover people. Where are the billionaires (minus Cuban). Bezos? Now would be a great time for Mike Bloomberg to show us all what a wonderful person he is. I won't hold my breath (which might mean I have Covid-19)

Found the graph showing the difference between Philadelphia and St. Louis in 1918.

Just $1 billion from Bloomberg could pay a million people $500 for two weeks.

I think DeWine in Ohio was the first to publicly announce this, yesterday in the early afternoon, and Ohio's governor is hardly blue. In fact when he was running for the republican nomination it seemed like he was trying to go full donald in an attempt to win. He claims at least to be strictly following the advice of medical doctors and epidemiologists as he goes about what decisions to make.

Re: Covfefe 19: now in 3D

Areas, yes. But we should still have a better chance of overall containment. But that goes back to people doing their part in all this.

Based upon what?

Anyway for some levity...

Working from home but missing the subway.

Re: Covfefe 19: now in 3D

Duterte places Luzon under ‘enhanced community quarantine.’ What does this mean?

Yes - what exactly what does it mean? Unfortunately the official announcement was not very clear, although it sounds like most public transportation options, government offices and restaurants/bars will be closed. Grocery stores are ok. I don't know yet if any of my 3 work sites will remain open. Many of my employees will be able to work from home if needed, but it's possible at least half won't be (due to contractual issues) and the impact of that also remains unknown.

This should not kill my contract but will impact bonus potential. If that's the worst of it we can survive.

Kids for now will school from home using Google classroom, etc.

Earthquakes, volcanoes, now this. Locusts next?

I used that for our IT chat group today. Much appreciated.

Re: Covfefe 19: now in 3D

Sent an email last night to the man who used to own the company that I bought my two road bikes from. His company would import bike frames built by various craftsmen in Italy that he contracted with, then paint them and equip them here in the US for sale. The man who built my frames, Antonio Mondonico, is one of the great Italian old school builders, building frames along with his son in the small shop attached to their home outside Milan. I got to meet the two of them on two separate occasions when they traveled here to the states to measure customers for frames custom built just for them.

Antonio retired from building in 2005, and has to be at least 80 now, so I emailed to see if there was any information as to his and his family's health. Was told that they are all doing well so far, staying put at home, which I was glad to hear.

Every state should do this, immediately. I guess I don't personally care which governor does it first. Kentucky's governor gets it. He gets that his residents are a bunch of unhealthy smokers with COPD/diabetes/HTN and the like, and he's taking the appropriate steps faster than most governors, including those of the progressive blue states. That all said, I personally want everyone in red states and blue states to be okay, and thus why my wife and I will continue being hermits and not go out anywhere. Even if many people are being *******heads about all of this, I want them to be okay, too, and my wife and I will do what they fail to do. We're all in this together.

On a positive note, my wife's covid-19 test (finally) came back negative. She seems to be fully healthy now after our scare last Wednesday when her fever spiked to 105. We still don't know what caused everything though...which sort of makes it bittersweet, if that makes sense?

Unpaid leave.

Maybe this multibillion dollar company that receives multiple millions in tax breaks from the city and state can pony up a few bucks? Nah.
