Re: Covfefe 19: now in 3D

Never occurred to me to check before but we're five minutes from the nearest hospital, and it's a nice, rich, white one too.

Good luck, red states.

Re: Covfefe 19: now in 3D

Good thing I live 5 mins from a hospital, because odds are I'm going to get it. Of course, there will be no beds for me, let alone ventilators. But I'm young and macho, and will power through this!

Re: Covfefe 19: now in 3D

I dunno I was in Biloxi, Mississippi a few years back and they say "Hold My Chicken and Waffles!". You may not be able to use the beaches (they wouldnt dare take Obama Money for the clean up...no joke) but you cant walk 3 blocks without a Waffle House!

I lived within a 5 minute drive of 3 Waffle Houses in NC. They were all packed at 1 a.m. and the customers weren't even drunk.

Plus our lofos never stopped smoking. The Dumpies at my work all strut around like the Marlboro Man.

Stopping smoking, like eating right, and safe sex, is a class marker. The benighted part of the country never changed any of their behaviors.

Lofos? J.D. is gonna be mad at you.

Thus why I said "near" the top. :p That said, I stopped in Biloxi ~5 years ago so we could hang out at the beach on the way to New Orleans...yikes. I can confirm they used no money to clean up the beaches, or the water.

Re: Covfefe 19: now in 3D

Hey I like the Waffle House...but I wouldnt go out of my way to eat there. That was literally all they had. all the tourist trap bars were dead because there is no homes and the beaches are worthless. The only thing making money was the casinos.

Oh and if we're talking Fattest State it's Louisiana. The only place that's close is Hawaii and that doesn't count.

Jules: You remember Antoine Roccamora, half black, half Samoan, used to call him Tony Rocky Horror?
Vincent: Yeah, maybe. Fat, right?
Jules: I wouldn't go so far as to call the brother fat, I mean he got a weight problem. What's the ****** gonna do? He's Samoan.

The trick about WH is don't eat anything on the menu except waffles. Waffles are the only item that doesn't have a 50% morbidity before you complete your meal.

Also: the only place where the grits are crappy in the South is a WH.

Exactly. Polynesians who eat half an apple a day look like they weigh 600 lbs. Life isn't fair.

Denmark just closed all its borders so we won't get our disgusting capitalism on them.

I'm 1/4 Norwegian. Do they have right of return?

PMing with a nurse friend of mine (and I googled to make sure), I guess I'm even MORE susceptible to COVID, due to the fact I take injections for my psoriasis. Whee. Sometimes I don't like what I learn, despite it being helpful...

Texted a close friend of mine who is also a nurse. She said she's at prime risk for catching it, despite being a healthy 35 year old, because she does have the occasional severe asthma flare up and is on meds to control it. So she's worried about this. And although she is working for a specialist, it's under the regional hospital banner and they could pull nurses to fill in as needed.

In her immediate follow up text she said "It is what it is though. I'm very worried about the elderly patients. I've seen the flu take them out, so it sucks that this is just another thing putting them at risk."

My God are people like her, your friend, and Les, saints for continually putting others in front of themselves.

A reminder, we are just a week or two behind them.

I saw a chart (may have been on MSNBC) that shows the exponential growth of the virus in Italy. Then they plotted the growth of the virus in the US. It was almost a perfect match. We are indeed two weeks behind Italy. We have done even less to prepare even though we've had two extra weeks to get ready. It's going to be a disaster.
