Could we interest you in a deer for a win? (Michigan Tech @ WisconSIN - 10/29-30)

Re: Could we interest you in a deer for a win? (Michigan Tech @ WisconSIN - 10/29-30

Friday can't come soon enough for this weekend's games. Hopefully the officiating is fair and the old geezer forgets his stupid signs at home. Hoping for some Huskies points this weekend.
So the old ******* is still alive? It would be nice if he just died.

Well, time to be realistic. We beat an NMU team that clearly doesn't have their sheet together yet, an LSSU team whose first wins just came against a middling ECAC program, and a Mankato team that will probably finish 10th-12th. What's more, we also managed two ties against said teams, and still have a lot of work to do on winning faceoffs, eliminating turnovers, and our overall play without the puck. The Kohl seems to be the toughest place to play in the entire WCHA, and I think Wisconsin has been incorrectly written off this year. They're likely not a MacNaughton contender, but still probably good enough for 4th-6th and home ice.

I'd be pretty happy with a split, and wouldn't be surprised if the Badgers swept. Especially since they only got a point in Denver, and will probably be well-prepared to defend their home ice. Working slightly in our favor is the off week, which should've given us a lot of time to rest up, review tape, and work on the bad stuff.
I'd love to hear that Jordan Baker is back for this weekend, but Russell hasn't been too optimistic, especially now with the sprained ankle he sustained about two weeks ago. Duluth seems like a more realistic target for his return.

Bye was that easy this year eh? Gives me some hope the Gophers can get a sweep against Bye as well in a couple weeks.

Do take it easy on him this weekend please.

Not sure he could handle the exertion from another 10+ goal weekend.

ok why is this thread so quiet?
Better dead than Red! Lets go Huskies! Show everybody this team isn't a joke.

My guess is either the power is out or everyone is hunkered down with these high winds...... OR
( Maybe the Badger's are afraid of the Huskies invasion). Could all be out deer hunting maybe?

Or we're all out at the bars contributing to our failed livers, that will need transplants by the time we're 40

Tech is coming into this weekend with two starters injured. Baker and Schooley.
what's the Wisconsin injury situation?

Was skimming the "60 Minutes..." Badger blog, and while Patrick Johnson was reportedly injured, he was back in the lineup last weekend and "looked pretty good". There weren't any other UW injuries, as far as they knew.

Like already mentioned, Patrick Johnson suffered a concussion 2 weeks ago against UAH but played against Denver and by all accounts, played pretty well. Other than that we're pretty healthy.

My prediction for this weekends games:
Friday: Tech 4
Wisconsin 3 The Badgers take the new-look Huskies lightly and find the penalty box to much.

Saturday: Wisconsin 4
Tech 2 The Badger fans fill the Kohl and Bucky gets revenge. I personally want a sweep but have to think realistic. It is in their barn. Three points would be sweet if possible.

I like this, but call it 6-2 on Saturday - Bucky will want to make a point of it.

A deer for a win? LOL...we have plenty of deer in Wisconsin already, thanks. We'd be more than happy to send a few over though if youd like.
IMO, this is going to be a tough series for MTU. They have 2 of their starters hurt, the game is in Madison and its on Halloween weekend.
Not that the Badgers are the greatest team in college hockey in their own right, but they can still put up a bunch of goals on a good night and their goaltending is no slouch. You can bet the Kohl Center crowd will be harassing the MTU players early and often and will get inside the players' heads, especially if they are struggling. The Kohl is one of the most hostile environments in all of college hockey, so, best of luck there. LOL
As to that, "old man", show a little respect. You guys wish you had someone like Phil and just for that I hope the Badgers put up 7+ goals in each game and I hope the, "sive" and "we want more chants" echo in your players' ears and haunts them for the rest of the season.

They might want to but I'm not sure they have the fire power right now...unless Robo starts :p

Don't let your over confidence being your undoing. Still letting up over 3 goals a game against the dregs of the CCHA and possibly the new WCHA basement dweller in Mankato is not impressive. Your team might have found some offense, but UW isn't NMU, Lake St or Mankato.

I'm interested to see what Tech has this year, and I think it should be a good series this weekend. Tech certainly appears to not be the pushover of a team that they were the last few seasons, and UW is going through some growing pains being so young.

Was Milos Gordic injuried last season? He put up some nice numbers in the BCHL and then I never heard about him last year.

Hattie for Jordy. Both nights. :D

Why would we want someone like that? Funeral costs are expensive, and that old doosh is simply a funeral waiting to happen.

I really think Wisconsin ought to sweep this. Will they? Eh, I think I'll wobble a bit and predict a 3 point weekend.
