While wearing my Gopher jersey into the MTU section last year, I saw one of the fans give me an odd condescending look. It made me sad that the fan could be so mean. Why can't we just get along?

The final time I went to the Met Center, I was seated near what I thought was a nice family. Now I was wearing my Hawks jersey and one of their kids said he didn't really like Jeremy Roenick as much as Mike Modano.

I know, I know, can you believe it? Obviously I went to get the usher right away and asked that they be removed from the arena, but he said something about harmless comments. Obviously, I had been harmed.

Now the game previous to that, my buddies and I were bodily thrown from the arena when one of us got hit by an ice cube and then jumped over two rows to get to who he assumed did it. This caused a brawl and a rain of thrown food.

Why did we get thrown out and this kid who ruined my night didn't even get a slap on the wrist? Clearly the Met Center staff only catered to their own fans.

I never went back and am still waiting for an apology from the director of the Met Center.

One thing's for sure, all Minnesota fans are a-holes.

Sometimes I forget that there's a human at the other keyboard and that saying mean things can really hurt people.

I musta been about 16 or so, and I offered a ref a $20 bill (and rather obviously) to call one against the 'Hawks, since they were obviously biased. Yep, I have had some words with you stupid Chi-town fans. Ignoramuses.

But Sconni fans still are terrible fans. Not limited to any sport. It's the only state I've been basically challenged to a fight, simply for wearing my MN gear (for the record, it was a Vikings Del Rio jersey).

We've done the press a 5 dollar bill up against the glass during warm ups at the JMSIA, and then the ref kind of made a motion like...that's all? And then someone pulled out a Canadian $20, he got a kick outta that and chuckled, then the plastic came out, he got a kick out of that too....

And two years ago I wrote on my whiteboard "Will Trade Corona For Win" for Beaurline. He laughed. And he got his Corona later that night.

In all seriousness, I'm a pretty reasonable guy in real life. I take my rivalries very seriously, but I don't want to actually fight or hurt someone physically over them.

That said, when I see any Gopher, Viking or Cubs item, I go temporarily insane and have to fight urges that I don't want to put in writing in a public forum. Plausible deniability.

Like I've said before, all my friends and room mates in College were from Minnesota. I love Minnesotans. But I'd strangle my mother if she showed up at my house in a Kessel jersey.


There's just something in our DNA that triggers when we see your jerseys. Triggers a fight response and some of us just aren't evolved enough to suppress it.

Almost ditto. I have had a Badger fan (con1977 on here) ask me if it was safe to crash here after a MN loss.

During the game, I'll say just about anything, mostly in jest. Where that line is, is often tested by both sides.* After the game (and a 10 minute or so cooling off period), it's forgotten and it's time to discuss the game or have a couple, or both. Unless it's a particularly tough or untimely loss. Then the cooling down period may take a bit longer.

*Last year, during the F5, some ahole Sioux fan asked why I was wearing my jersey, since MN wasn't even there. I calmly turned around, and asked, "Don't you have a trailer to sandbag? Go home." He shut up.

The 4Q is honestly one of my least favorite chants, mainly cause students (freshm....err first years) get really confused and having to explain it numerous times is super annoying

I like it, because it is a "thinking" yell/chant. I mean, c'mon, math is involved.
