Don't know Minnesota specifically, but generally they will "merge" into a higher crime so long as the higher crime encompasses all of the elements of the lesser crime. But say they had convicted of 2nd degree and acquitted on 3rd degree, the defense could raise an issue of inconsistent verdicts and argue for a mistrial. So they still need to go thru the motions on the lesser charges. And obviously, had they acquitted on 2nd degree the lesser charges would matter.

That is really interesting thanks for the info!

CNN showing footage of Biden and Harris calling the family after the verdict. Amazingly he isn't making it about himself and his greatness...

only the top count according to this MN public defender. She's been an excellent follow through the coverage.

Oh wow. Our CEO already sent out an email about the verdict. Didn't expect that so quickly. It's very corporate but emphasizes advocacy and change as well as the internal resources for pushing change.

Right Wing Cope on Twitter is posting what the Qucumbers are saying...they don't seem happy. Well in the words of their Illustrious Traitor:

He is remanded with no bail so not gonna happen. Plus he deserves to suffer and a cop in Maximum Security is going to be about as popular as a pedo...

A former colleague of mine spent the better part of two decades as a corrections officer in two different states. He said nowadays even pedophiles have a better time of it in prison than cops. Chauvin might need to be locked up for 23 hours a day to ensure he comes out alive.

Meanwhile, while the verdict was being read in Minnesota, Columbus PD gunned down a 15 year old black girl because she had a knife.

She was the one who called police because she was being physically harassed and had the knife for personal protection.

Sounds about right...

So they get the call at 4:35pm, arrive and the shooting happens at 4:45pm. I feel that is a rather quick turn of events.

What are the Raiders doing? Sweet merciful crap. Not only has it been up for hours, it's pinned.

I dont know but the SM team was doxxed almost immediately so...ummm...it might be best if they got away for a while. (cause they won't have a job)

I want to believe it wasn't meant to be what it is...but seeing as cops wear shirts saying that to mock police brutality victims I really can't.
