The police are not the enemy. The unions force (some) good cops to do things they don't want to do. If you think every cop in America is bad, then I truly hate to say it, but we are done here. Those who tarnish the badge need to be dealt with, and I'm more than for that. But to say all cops are the enemy? Ugh. Nope. No.

That's where you and I end up differing. Of course I used to vote for republicans and argued for the second amendment in much the same way the NRA does today. In another decade I will probably be a socialist too.

The good ones cannot be forced to do what they don't want to do. If they could be forced into doing the wrong things, they aren't "good." And no, I don't think every cop in America is bad. But just because every German did not work with the Nazis and some even resisted and paid with their lives, Germany was still absolutely the enemy. The police are irredeemably broken and the are the enemy. We can break them down, rebuild them into what our communities need, and the handful of good ones are welcome to join the party and actually do some real servicing and protecting. So if we're done, we're done. I don't really care because I am tired of people like you finding ways to equivocate on police brutality.

If you cannot stand up to something like a cop snuffing the life out of an unarmed man YOU DON'T DESERVE TO BE A COP AGAIN. Yeah they tried that in 2009 when the Gang Task Force was stealing and looting their way across Minneapolis. Not gang...GANG TASK FORCE! They stole drugs, money, electronics, they beat up everyone, sexually assaulted people and flat out targeted minorities with no record or evidence and violated them. (my gf has a real bad horror story about them doing that to one of her students who became a citizen only to be targeted by these clowns)
The cops and the union said reform and retrain...and the 3rd became even worse than it was before. There is no reform because there is no means to get rid of the rot. You would have to fire everyone who has over a year on the force and replace them all with new recruits that are scrutinized so deeply they have no chance to be like the status quo. That will cost millions.
Even if you get rid of the Chauvins...the problem isnt just them. It is the other 3 who sat by and did nothing. That is the problem with the cops. It isnt like there isnt means to report the "bad apples" and they never do. they never go to their superiors (many of whom are just as dirty) they never go to the Press or Internal Affairs or the Feds or even community activists. They sit on their hands, bite their lip and watch. Well silence is compliance. They are collaborators and they are just as evil and should never be allowed to wear a badge either.
The cops pretend they are above the law...they need to be clapped back and just sending them to their room with no dinner isnt enough anymore. We both know that TPTB are not going to go for any sort of reform. They wont de-militarize (they will whine and then cause a slow down and show us just how much they can screw us...they have before) and they wont go to any sort of retraining. The Union (and its rank and file) wont let them be fired and again if any are the Police will make sure the people of Minneapolis pay for it. If the MPD is going to act like the Mob it is time they feel the hurt like the Mob did.
I mean look at the cops excuse for slashing the tires of protesters. "We thought the cars could cause problems later". *** they arent even trying. (most of the cars were in ****ing parking lots) They are out of control. I know you dont believe that and I understand why but they are beyond reforming at this point. Hell even the White People in Minneapolis dont trust the MPD...and not because they dont trust cops but because the MPD has been a corrupt organization going back to the 1950s. If we had a functional DOJ I would be begging for the FBI to come here and take them all down but they will probably fight to give them raises since they act exactly how the Clown Prince of Whine in the WH wants them too.
