Cops 3: Shoot low boys -- they're ridin' Shetland ponies!

From what I heard on NPR (I live in Cleveland), it was more of a result of an automatic system that when a payer is identified, a bill is sent out. Without looking it up, I think the City retracted the bill.

That's what I figured/hoped for. So, it's pretty much a non-story.

I thought cops had admission requirements?

After someone drove past his house Monday night and fired shots, a Tennessee sheriff publicly mulled whether Beyoncé's politically-charged Super Bowl performance and new music video could have incited the shooting.

Honest question: is that because of some state law, insurance law, etc etc?

And, will they really go through with it, or is the charge needed in paperwork, but will later be forgiven/paid for by someone else?

Probably insurance coverage, or lack thereof. Especially if it's Rural Metro, given they're a for-profit service.

MD judge Robert Nalley orders the courtroom deputy to use a stun cuff on the defendant because he wasn't answering questions correctly, or was taking too much time answer the questions. Regardless, the judge has since been banned from MD courts by the state, and found guilty of civil rights violations. There's video of the incident in the link.

One year probation and a $5000 fine. Yikes.

He's also been permanently removed from the bench by the state's courts. While that's not technically a criminal repercussion, his career was ended. That's certainly something when you think about the income a judge earns.

Sorry but that is still a slap on the wrist.

I can think of an apt punishment...

I have a friend who does litigation who was not the least surprised this happened. Evidently the only thing between moron judges and turning our courtrooms into that scene from Escape from New York is court officials who sidle up to the judge and whisper, "um, no sir, you can't actually shoot him for sneezing in your courtroom."

Edit: oh well, that's EfLA. Same deal.

Which one of the 'If you don't want to be murdered by the police, don't commit crimes' concern trolls from this thread should I bump?

Re: Cops 3: Shoot low boys -- they're ridin' Shetland ponies!

Assault charge? IANAL.

Neither am I, but I would think with the video and audio available, the state either charged the judge with charges carrying the stiffest penalties available, or the judge's defense lawyer pled down to what he received. Either way, the state got what it wanted, him off the bench, and the judge is now publicly disgraced.

Re: Cops 3: Shoot low boys -- they're ridin' Shetland ponies!

Was the state supposed to make up new punishments for the idiot judge did?

So assaulting someone doesnt net you jail time? (we wont even get into the civil rights violations) Please if I tasered someone (who was already restrained and no threat) I wouldnt be getting a fine and probation. He is getting preferential treatment no two ways about it.

And the victim was treated inhumanely. (literally was treated like a dog with a shock collar) Who gives a crap what the state wants it should be about what the victim wants.

We used to have that sort of justice, it left a lot of people swinging in the wind. Great system.
