Re: Cops 2: Pay No Attention to the Rioters Behind the Curtain

Nope. Couldn't do it. Fox was harassing elijah Cummings. It was pathetic.

In fairness, Elijah Cummings deserves a lot of harassment. Maybe not in this setting, but the guy's a complete weasel.

Re: Cops 2: Pay No Attention to the Rioters Behind the Curtain

Here we go.

I'm curious, can you impose a curfew on the media?

OH! First F bomb on the air.

Re: Cops 2: Pay No Attention to the Rioters Behind the Curtain

Kudos to the actual people who are trying to get people to go home. Props to them.

Edit: you can enforce a curfew on media. The media have been warned, also.

Re: Cops 2: Pay No Attention to the Rioters Behind the Curtain

I just think if you're starting to impose a curfew on credentialed media, you're treading a fine line.

Most of the crowd looks to be made up of all the talking heads and their camera crews.

Nice of the police to start creating a testudo and advancing on the crowd. Real nice job of deescalating the situation.

Re: Cops 2: Pay No Attention to the Rioters Behind the Curtain

I'm not saying start to shoot people. ENFORCE THE CURFEW. Start arresting people.

Well, now people are throwing things. This was going fine when people just stood around. Why don't people understand peaceful protest?

Re: Cops 2: Pay No Attention to the Rioters Behind the Curtain

Something about not escalating a situation or causing more problems?

But the cops are dressed for riots! They are asking for it!

Now it's being reported, media can stay, but watch where you go.

Re: Cops 2: Pay No Attention to the Rioters Behind the Curtain

Flipping between CNN, MSNBC, and Fox News... had a big laugh at one of the "protesters" wearing a Blackhawks Byfuglien jersey. :D

Looks to be a lot of photographers indeed.

Not sure about that second part though. They said there was a 10 PM curfew. To not enforce it basically removes all authority the police have. It's like telling your child you're going to punish them if they cross a line, then they cross a line.

Saw that. Hilarious.

And here come the "big bad cops" actually enforcing the curfew. All their fault. Not the people who are not obeying the curfew.

Re: Cops 2: Pay No Attention to the Rioters Behind the Curtain

Not tear gas. It's smoke.

Also, dear CNN, these are not flashbangs.

Re: Cops 2: Pay No Attention to the Rioters Behind the Curtain

Not tear gas. But protesters are throwing back the canisters. That's smart.

Re: Cops 2: Pay No Attention to the Rioters Behind the Curtain

CNN just said the media has permission to be there. What changed?

Probably clarification of freedom of press or something? Or maybe to have video backup of what is actually happening?

Problem is to enforce it reinforces the view that the police/city don't care about what the protesters have to say. Even if it is a primarily small group of agitators out to cause problems, there are still going to be average people just out and about who will be encouraged to resist or fight back because it creates an "us vs them" mentality.

It's a no win situation for anyone other than the news media.

Re: Cops 2: Pay No Attention to the Rioters Behind the Curtain

I get that, but there's a proper forum for that. 10 pm in the middle of the streets is not that forum.
