Re: Cops 2: Pay No Attention to the Rioters Behind the Curtain

Do we need to keep jury nullification? Absolutely; it was put there as a protection against an oppressive judicial system. Does the District Attorney need to be held accountable for the jurors that are selected in order to make sure the trial is completely impartial? Yes.

It was put where, exactly, and by who?

Jury nullification isn't the law, it isn't sanctioned or even permitted. Does it happen? Probably. Is it a good thing? Highly questionable, in my opinion. It is a jury intentionally disregarding very specific instructions provided by a judge, instructions that are in fact the law. I'm not sure intentionally violating the law, all in the name of "justice" is something we should be championing. Has lead to such things as lynchings and a variety of other pleasantries.

It was placed into the 7th Amendment by James Madison, based upon the following grievances from the Declaration of Independence:

"He has made Judges dependent on his Will alone, for the tenure of their offices, and the amount and payment of their salaries."
"For protecting [armed troops], by a mock Trial, from punishment for any Murders which they should commit on the Inhabitants of these States:"

The 7th Amendment deals with lawsuits, not criminal cases...

Since I have no farking clue what you're talking about, I'll go look at a picture of a bunny with a pancake on its head.

Flaggy has the least understanding of the Constitution on this board.

Re: Cops 2: Pay No Attention to the Rioters Behind the Curtain

Yeah but no one is arguing violence against cops is a good thing (even wingnuts like Flaggy dont) whereas plenty of people seem to look the other way as more and more cops seem to being go old west on the bit. How many unarmed people have to die at the hands of the cops all over the country before we realize this isnt just a few bad apples anymore?

Just because someone is a criminal doesnt men they deserve to be shot or tazed. The sooner police departments start reminding their officers of it that sooner people might actually start to trust them again.

There is a flipside. Those that won't trust the cops no matter what. And that's what the cops (sometimes) have to deal with. They have no idea about what's to go down in any situation. They are honestly the "defense" in a call, if you want to relate it to sports. Criminals generally know what they are going to do, or what they are willing to do. Cops have no idea.

This is with the admission that there are bad cops, bad precincts, etc. Also with the admission that MOST cops are good cops. MOST.

Why should anyone trust them? They're going to receive the same amount of trust that they bestow upon us: Jack squat. And guess what, they'll bestow that trust no matter how much you give them. They are not defence; you've only been brainwashed to believe as such. Given their behavior on highways and streets, they are clearly on the offence looking to overshoot their quota so they get a promotion. If you're going to be violent towards these domestic terrorists, non-discrimination in who is attacked will just amplify the problem.

People claim that violence by domestic terrorists isn't up, and they may actually have a point. The only reason it comes to light now is because modern technology in the hands of the people exposes the issue. It's no wonder they want to ban cameras and what-not, because want to go back to getting away with their terrorism. They also want to remove weapons from the hands of the people,. something Kepler and the like have championed on here. To think that the domestic terrorists would end up giving them up as well is laughable. China is the clear example of that.

Obama wanted to continue the war on terror, and wanted to empower the people in the fight on terror. Let's just say he didn't break that campaign promise, either. The fact that the domestic terrorists were turned into such by organizations such as the Southern Poverty Law Center may also play a part.

Re: Cops 2: Pay No Attention to the Rioters Behind the Curtain

And then you have cops that are assaulted while trying to rescue someone.

Nowhere do the articles say this is acceptable, nor did I ever (and I would never) say unprovoked assaults on law enforcement is acceptable. But, once again, a knee jerk reaction about the dangers the poor cops face when they go about "doing their jobs" will never lead to the situation improving at all.

It is becoming more and more apparent that far too many instances of police shooting civilians could be avoided with changes in tactics, training and attitudes. Deadly force should be used exceeding rarely, and more and more it seems like it is one of the first arrows out of the quiver in a lot of these cases. The first step in fixing a problem is identifying it, and part of the focus on the linked article is we don't even know the extent of the issue since reporting procedures can be so lax.

Our culture also simply needs to value life a little more. We rarely talk the talk and never seem to walk that walk anymore. It isn't just the trigger happy cops. It's the gang bangers and other bad people who all are more than ready to come out blasting to protect their turf and assert their manhood. If we want to be a society that glorifies a second amendment written in a completely different world, we d am n well better be a society that teaches a respect for life and teaches ways to resolve conflict a lot better than we do. And right now, we're not doing that at all.

Want to value life? Defund Planned Parenthood.

You don't go from discussing police tactics one moment to whining about Planned Parenthood/abortion next, without being a troll.

If you think your gun protects you against police brutality, we're going to see you on the news someday.

Hey, I said years ago it's going to be really nice to meet everyone on here when the FBI calls us all in for interviews after Flaggy does something stupid.

Toby has a great line in The Office, "just taking notes for the deposition."

As long as the Mods save the threads, no one will blame us.

Does the FBI provide hotel and per diem? That will be one great USCHO party. :)

It would probably be cheaper for them to interview around the time the F4 kicks off.
