College Hockey and TV...

Re: College Hockey and TV...

The Twin Cities area got 6 games last night, 4 games tonight. I don't care if it's bastige channels or not. It's on TV. I likey.

Edit: that amount of games on one night HAS happened in the past, but it was rare. It's more common this year.

To also get the run on NBC sports with actual analysts showing highlights and talking about college hockey though is new.

Yeah, I know Roenick didn't seem super interested, but at least they're showing highlights, and most were in HD.

Wheeeeee........

Same here. Was at a friends where we had dual tvs going. Something I should look into.

I have a feeling the B1G conference will keep some of the CCHA's ways before the NCHC does.

how can we stop shootouts? If enough of us hate it, and maybe there are some donors amongst us, is it possible for us to influence the decision?

The only other solution I have is leaving a game after the "tie", but before the abomination begins.

Just wait for the CCHA to disband. :)

I would watch all this college hockey if I wasn't at the games!

Re: College Hockey and TV...

It's getting to the point where I'm going to need to find a TV that can display a window for every single game being televised in order to keep up!

I had all those games plus tUMD @ Purple Cows on Charter Extra. All WCHA series except UAA @ SCCC, which was on regionally with Charter Extra.

Agreed. In the past, ShirtlessGuy would have a 4-tv setup for the regionals. It was awesome. The only thing stopping more coverage is college bouncyball/football, really, hence more games shown on Fri night, and less on Sat night.

Re: College Hockey and TV...

Last weekend the NHL (subscription) TV channel broadcasted live in Florida the playoff game between U.Maine and UNH. Be assured that broadcast profited both college and NHL hockey. A year or so past website gurus mocked the idea that college and major junior hockey could ally for profit, let alone college hockey and the NHL. Maybe the savants should follow the money and the opportunities rather than the past.

Now I know you're just a troll that doesn't know a **** thing about college hockey. That wasn't a playoff game.

F.D. - Thanks for making my point. If an NHL broadcast of a regular season game between college teams can profit an alliance between the NHL and college hockey then imagine if you can the benefits for an NHL-colllege hockey telecast of a playoff game!

Thanks for bringing this up, Osorojo, and for the detailed and irrefutable evidence that the NHL network made money from the broadcast of that game.

Re: College Hockey and TV...

I did enjoy watching the game on NHL Network. It was nice that it wasn't tape delayed as well.

Re: College Hockey and TV...

I've been watching the NBC Sports Network broadcasts in recent weeks and its pretty clear that they are using the college hockey platform to try and develop more NHL fans. They are using NHL quality slick camera angles, the NHL talking heads back at headquarters and some NHL play by play and color talent.

No doubt they are hoping to develop some cross-over fans in both directions.

Nothing wrong with that, especially if one of those cross-over fans is a multi-billionaire that wants to make a generous donation to his/her college in efforts to start a D-I hockey program.

Re: College Hockey and TV...

It's been great this season but quick question W T F does UVM have on NBC Sports? Jesus they're on every week!
