Re: College Football III: We may lose, but we keep the score close!

Gameday is heading to Utah. If TCU wins, they'll probably move ahead of Boise.

To get a Boise-TCU title game, we need at least the following:
TCU and Boise to win out.
Oregon to lose to anyone.
LSU to beat 'Bama, 'Bama to beat Auburn.

If Auburn or 'Bama win out they will be in the BCS game. There's actually a scenario where the BCS game could be an Auburn-Alabama rematch.

Re: College Football III: We may lose, but we keep the score close!

Doesn't a TCU-Boise title game cement the BCS though? Or at least allow people to make a "the system works for everyone" argument?

Re: College Football III: We may lose, but we keep the score close!

Auburn moves past Boise State in the Coaches poll. Sadly, Jacksonville State is not ranked, since apparently beating Mississippi is worthy of passing other undefeated teams.

Nevada re-appears at #23, Hawai'i at #26.

Nevada and Hawai'i being ranked helps Boise's cause. However, Jacksonville State got shafted. :(

It's all about the Alabama game. If Auburn beats Alabama, they will deserve to be ranked ahead of BSU. If they don't -- and Alabama leapfrogs Auburn and sneaks ahead of BSU on computer rankings . . . THEN we've got ourselves a conversation.

Alabama will jump Boise State in the polls, much less expand a lead in the computers. Boise State/TCU's only realistic shot at a title is for Oregon to crap the bed and get a matchup vs. Alabama/Auburn. Kneel before your SEC gods!

Re: College Football III: We may lose, but we keep the score close!

I'm still hoping BSU craps the bed. Oregon-Auburn would be a fun game. And as long as there's no playoff, integrity is out the window, anyway. :)

Top 5 is fine, not sure I buy Nebraska and Oklahoma being better than Wisconsin, but hey I'm biased.

Rumors swirling that Greg Robinson has been fired/resigned

Your program will be instantly better for that. Just ask Syracuse for that. Of course, we have a man (Doug Marrone) that should be getting National Coach of the Year votes if he gets 8 or 9 wins.

Those rumors are being refuted left and right. There is a lot of smoke, but this time, I don't think there's a fire

Meh. I had no real problem with Robinson's scheme. Michigan's defensive issues are completely personnel-based. They pretty much got the result that you'd expect from a defense with that amount of talent. I can't see anyone that great wanting to replace him because it would be a complete suicide mission.

The big downside to the news--whether it happens now or at the end of the season-- is that it sets Robinson up as the scapegoat, giving Michigan an excuse to keep Rodriguez around for a fourth season.

As a Wisconsin fan, I can buy either of those two arguments, but for Michigan State to drop that much...
um
If I hadn't been drinking so much tonight, I'd go into my SEC/Big Ten rant, but, BLUF, the same arguments that everyone uses to justify the SEC are the same ones that they use to denigrate the Big Ten. If MSU loses to a tough Iowa team, it's a sign of weakness, but for Alabama to lose to an SEC team, it's because the conference is that good. FTS.
