Re: College Football III: We may lose, but we keep the score close!

Capital one is not an insignificant bowl. I mean, it's no Rose Bowl but I still think it commands a bit of respect since it will generally have the second or third best team in the Big Ten vs. the second or third best team in the SEC.

They're going to end up in something like the Outback Bowl or Alamo Bowl. There are about five good bowls. The rest are worthless.

Five good outside of the BCS? Because like i said, the Capital One bowl is still very respectable with two of the top teams in the two of the best conferences.

Usually at least one of the BCS Bowls is a dog. The CapOne Bowl is usually one of the very few OK games, but no one gives a crap who wins it except fans of that school. That's pretty much true of every bowl. The BCS may have succeeded in matching 1v2 (maybe) but it destroyed the other bowl games.

Agreed -- it's a very good Bowl. But with their personnel, Iowa should've done better this year IMO. This was a top 10 team early (with reason) and they managed to play themselves right out of the top 25.

Losses at AZ and at NW? Noticeable talent advantages in both. Home games with WI and OSU? Had chances to win and didn't. They lost all four of those games. The win over MSU was great, but where are the other good wins? They don't have another good win.

That bowl's usually even worse as far as a "reward" because the Big Ten and SEC are usually two bid conferences in the BCS, so the teams are playing up.

Re: College Football III: We may lose, but we keep the score close!

The PAC-10 is bi-polar this year. Cal pushes Oregon, follows up by not competing at all vs. Stanford. Oregon State smacks USC 7 days after losing to Washington 1-AA State.

I guess Iowa is always going to be Iowa: good enough to compete every year, will turn out sound, NFL-ready players, etc., but as soon as they get close to actually doing something they will always **** it up. Maybe they can set the record for most Capital One or Outback Bowl victories or whatever the hell they're called.
If it makes you feel better, Iowa won the Orange Bowl last season.

LSU @ Arkansas
Oklahoma @ Oklahoma State

Which one?

Can I ask why everyone is fellating about how good Oregon is yet the PAC-10 is pretty weak this year after the top two teams?

If Stanford were to lose and Virginia Tech wins the ACC, Boise State would have one more top 10 BCS win than the Ducks would.

Have you seen the sagarin ratings prior to today's results?

The Pac-10 had 4 top 20 teams.

Re: College Football III: We may lose, but we keep the score close!

Boise gets closer in the new BCS.

Rank Team BCS, Harris, USA Today, AVG Comp.

1 Oregon .9764, 1, 1, 2
2 Auburn .9682, 2, 2, 1
3 TCU .8995, 4, 4, 3
4 Boise State .8860, 3, 3, 5
5 LSU .8193. 6, 6, 4

BSU really needs to beat Nevada and have VT keep winning games to have their computer average move up.

Re: College Football III: We may lose, but we keep the score close!

No but see when one Pac10 team beats another Pac10 team it's proof that the conference is bad.
Yah, unless you play on an eastern time zone friendly schedule, you must be bad. Hey, I'm sure the Atlantic 10 is better than the Pac Ten, just by default. Maybe the Pac Ten could aspire to change their name to the Gulf Ten and at least feel like they are a little closer to the east coast.

How in the world is TCU #3? They're only marquee win was against Utah...which got thumped by Notre Dame. I guess San Diego State, but I mean how good are they actually? Boise beat the eventual ACC Champion. If Boise doesnt move up to #2, Id actually really enjoy watching Boise vs. Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl.

because TCU has a better strength of schedule... we know how this works folks. It may not be fair, but it isn't difficult.

The ACC has won 3 non-conference games as a whole this year vs. other BCS leagues, all vs the Big East. Between that and the Big East's one BCS win vs. an ACC squad, no less, it's basically the Big 4 for conferences this year. If the ACC manages a 3-0 vs. the SEC this week, maybe beating that eventual champion gets something other than a chuckle in the computers.

Edit: Big East has two BCS wins. Missed UConn's win over Vanderbilt.

That will change once Virginia Tech wins the ACC title and Boise smacks Nevada this week.

Boise will be #3 soon enough...Then the debate will begin who belongs in the championship once/if Auburn or Oregon slips up.
