Re: College Football II: The BCS hits the Fan

Wow, they draw 30k. I could see them and Georgia Southern join the Sun Belt. One more team would give them 12.

Am I the only one who thinks if this keeps up the FCS/FBS will metastasize into 3 tiers -- A, A and 1/2, and AA?

Things pretty much are already that way, with all of the BCS conference schools in FBS, the Non-BCS conference schools in FBS, and then the FCS schools that for the most part actually have a shot at the national championship every year because they have a playoff, save for the Ivy League and SWAC, who don't do participate in the playoffs.

Re: College Football II: The BCS hits the Fan

The top 20 is so static (and $$$-driven) that it's practically already like the EPL, with occasional relegation.

Pretty much, except what I foresee is more the tiers being kept only as a formality.

In other words, I don't expect FBS and FCS to remain separated for much longer. The lure of FBS money is going to be too big for the competitive programs in FCS, and what's left of the FCS after that isn't going to be much to sustain it long-term.

True that, You've got the WAC already circling around Montana in order to get them a body that would get them to be big enough to survive while the MWC is **** near a BCS conference. Divisions get hurt when a lot of their top teams leave all at once. The fans of the also-rans and just that close to being a top team lose those measuring sticks.

Re: College Football II: The BCS hits the Fan

What this Clemson-Miami game needs is more commercials.

Re: College Football II: The BCS hits the Fan

Michigan St. coach Mark Dantonio (recovering from heart attack) hospitalized with blood clot in leg.

Re: College Football II: The BCS hits the Fan

ESPN apparently hasn't bothered to get a new Gophers helmet since the early '90s.

Re: College Football II: The BCS hits the Fan

Ummm, so the Clemson returner drops the ball...right into the hands of the Miami player...and they penalize the Miami player for not letting the Clemson guy catch the ball.

Ridiculous.

Re: College Football II: The BCS hits the Fan

The Big East might finally beat a team from a BCS conference besides the ACC. Sure, it's Vandy, but it's still a BCS school. :D

up UConn 38-21 with 8 1/2 minutes left... this would be the second win in a row against SEC opponents if this holds.

It isn't all bad news for the SEC. Auburn was able to sneak past Louisiana-Monroe. Phew.

Re: College Football II: The BCS hits the Fan

It looks like Minnesota is going to eat another turdburger, losing an 8-point 4th quarter lead to Northwestern.

Re: College Football II: The BCS hits the Fan

Pretty entertaining Gopher game, but yet another loss in a winnable game.

Re: College Football II: The BCS hits the Fan

Final in East Hartford: Connecticut 40, Vanderbilt 21

Re: College Football II: The BCS hits the Fan

And Denard sticks one in the end zone on Michigan's 2nd play. 7-7 now.

Re: College Football II: The BCS hits the Fan

I'm going to get BC-ND instead of Oregon-Stanford? Oh goody.

Re: College Football II: The BCS hits the Fan

One will be on ABC while the other should be on ESPN2.

If I'm reading this right it will be on the ESPN2 alternate channel, not in HD. Wash-USC will be on ESPN2HD.

Re: College Football II: The BCS hits the Fan

Wisconsin turns the ball over and MSU scores on the resulting drive to make it 13-10 Spartans.
