College Football 2025

President Donald Trump issued an executive order Friday barring the College Football Playoff and other postseason games from airing during the annual Army-Navy matchup in December.

Trump directed the commerce secretary and FCC chairperson to coordinate with the CFP committee, the NCAA and media rights partners to ensure an exclusive broadcasting window for the storied rivalry traditionally played the second Saturday each December.

Texas Tech QB Brendan Sorsby was just granted an injunction against the NCAA after he had been ruled ineligible for betting on his own teams while at IU and Cincy, among other betting activity.

The fall out of that seems… not great.

Yeah doesn't set a great precedence. Next those guys who were shaving points are going to claim by not allowing them to do so, the NCAA is hurting their ability to make money.

If I were to rob a bank and get arrested it would be unfair of the state to incarcerate me. Robbing banks is a sickness, a disease. I need help not an unjust punishment.

Oh, and the money, too. It would be unfair to deprive me of the cash...because....reasons...

Big Ten and SEC are reportedly putting together a directive to boycott Texas Tech in all sports, and will work with schools with currently scheduled games to see if they are able to cancel.

His lawyer is Jeffrey Kessler, the one who loves to sue basically any sports entity from the NFL to US Soccer.

Nebraska's AD already sent a memo to his teams, but there is a report the Big Ten schools will be talking about it this week to discuss it further for the conference at-large.
Texas Tech has responded that any team or conference that boycotts them or the Big XII over this will end up in court.

I am completely out of the loop - why are schools wanting to avoid scheduling TT?
Their new transfer QB Brendan Sorsby was suspended for betting. Not just betting, but even betting on his own teams while he was at Indiana and Cincinnati (including a couple negative bets against the Hoosiers. Once he transferred to Texas Tech all of this information dropped, including that he was betting through proxies. However, he sued to be reinstated, claiming his gambling is an addiction that he has sought treatment for, and was recently given a restraining order by a Texas judge allowing him to play for the time being.

So now there is a fight that is essentially Texas Tech vs The World. A fun wrinkle in this is his 5M NIL deal is apparently being paid by a big booster at TT, who is also the president of their board of trustees, and is also very active and opinionated on social media.

That will be fun- maybe they go 12-0 without playing a single game.

Isn't betting on your own team a crime? I though the fed's used to hate that. Oh, wait, the failed casino owner is now in charge- they like fixed bets.

Thanks.

How tone deaf can TT be?

Overall Texas Tech seems to be going nuclear in the NIL era. They are forking out cash left and right and possibly may be the single biggest spender across all sports.

TTU sees an opportunity to buy titles across the board and has no shame in doing so.
