College Football 2025

Just saw some news that the process changes for the next 6 years- ND gets in automatically if they finish in the top 12. They have special protected status. Oh goodie.

Language was included in the MOU written in Spring. It just does not kick in until 2026. I wonder if that was the reason they were left out this time.

If you are going to take the PR hit and write that in, why leave yourself vulnerable this year?

"Yes, I would like to buy fire insurance, but let's let it ride this year and see what happens..."

Notre Dame and Alabama should just schedule each other every year so the loser can blame the winner if the former doesn't happen to get in.
It was funny to see the talking heads justify bama getting in after losing because they were in the top 10, even though a b12 team had one fewer loss going into their conference championship. So it was ok to penalize BYU for losing badly, but not bama for losing badly. And certainly, they pushed the h2h of Miami v ND since they own the ACC broadcasting. The ACC team that didnt even make the championship game got in for a close week one win.

ESPN is really pushing their product via the playoffs much like how they did with the nba.

The end result to me is that I have less interest to watch, and it will hurt espn some more. Just like the nba did to them.

I would like to announce that I am also declining a bowl bid.

Are you really a wazzu fan? What are your thoughts of the new P12? Which will have a few BB only schools. My brother tries to go to one or two wazzu games every year.
More of a Walmart Wolverine fan of Wazzu. Uncle got me some merch from their Rose Bowl trip in the 90s and I've only kept a glance on them since.

I did have to buy a new hoodie to shut up the Wisco, Illini, and Iowa State fans around the office.

I've actually been interested to see how they survive in the TuPac conference, and see how it shakes out. I kinda like the new conference arrangement.

I call bullshit. I have never met an actual Iowa State fan, and I am convinced they don't exist. :p

Notre Dame AD is whining that the ACC brass pushed for Miami to leapfrog them.

It's an interesting statement because it goes out of its way to not blame Miami. Bevaqua is saying the conference was double dealing. None of us can know either way how true that is.

I've always wanted the Irish to eventually stop Hamletting and join Michigan, Purdue, and Michigan State. If this poisons the well with the ACC, so be it.

Okay, okay, the Cyclone fan was one person in our office this summer and he only knew the program existed was because he attends school there and apparently gone to multiple games? 😂

I do think this may become a trend and if it does, especially among the big schools, it’s the end of non playoff bowls. Which would be a shame.
I think the beginning of the end of non playoff bowls started with all the player opt outs. To be fair, I don't blame them. But, it took a lot of interest away for me.

That didn't change my interest at all.

I don't know if all non-playoff bowl games will disappear, but I could see the field shrinking.
