College Football 2022: “Here’s a twenty, bury two.”

I mean we can't throw stones either, I'm pretty sure football donations at Cornell still rival or even beat hockey donations, despite a far worse history. It's just weird to see.

Yeah, it's extremely fucked up. William Randolph Moneycunt comes to the reunions in football gear still. Must be regaling us with stories of beating Ohio State and Michigan before a sold out Crescent.

One time I went to a conference in Minneapolis and wore my Big Red t-shirt. The lady at the airport thought it was Nebraska and for football. You're right next to U-Minn, why is your first thought football, where you haven't been relevant since the 40s, rather than hockey, where you're a perennial power? This is the hockey state, right?

A lot of people do love their hockey but sadly the Wild (and North Stars before them) will always trump the Gophers and it's not as if Cornell is a household name mostly for the fact the Gophers rarely play them. If it had said "Fighting Sioux" then hockey might have been her first thought.

I'd imagine there are plenty of people that if they saw a Gophers block "M" hat would not know it from Mississippi or Maryland.

Uh, no. The Vikings OWN this town. And, to be frank, Gopher Football (way back in the day) was the crown jewel of college football. This is a football state first. Always has been. We have a deep rooted hockey culture but that manifests itself more at the youth level and culminates with the High School Tournament. The Wild are a side dish to the Vikings.

Lmao. Ain't no one west of, I don't know, Pennsylvania, going to associate big red with Cornell. You're lucky she didn't think you were from Wisconsin

Gopher football probably still smokes even the state high school tournament.

Oh god it's actually a football weekend isn't it? It always surprises me because we start about a month late. (Pesky academics.)

I go to ESPN to see who the Giants lost to(Twins btw)and I see there's a bunch-o-college football games scheduled for today. Did not know that.

Irish hospitality is top notch! #Huskers

Also, because Americans are subjecting the Irish to Big Ten Football.

I like Northwestern and I hate Nebraska but this game is tiresome even with a rooting interest.

Not to complain about free beer, mind you, but why does Internet being down mean it is free? From that looks of my TV, no one told the teams they have to stop playing because Internet is down, so the fan experience should be the same, since you're there to, you know, watch a football game.

Euros are there to surf the net and drink with friends, given that they don't understand nor care about the sport on the field. You'd need internet and/or booze to watch cricket here.
