I think the real kicker to Bama's deal is that if LSU loses somehow. One of two outcomes happens:
- LSU loses in the SEC title game. This is possible with Georgia. Committee says "Good Loss". They remain Top 4. This is plausible because Georgia is a solid team and will probably have a slight advantage with the crowd.
- LSU loses ANY game (even the title game) and 'Bama acts like a floor for them. The committee realizes that they DO NOT want to risk a "our rankings directly overrule a head-to-head matchup" scenario. Alabama would have to fall with LSU and I don't see that happening because REASONS
The latter would play in to those that like chaos in the rankings, especially if there are only two undefeated teams and 3 & 4 really go up for grabs...

Not really. They lost a close game to the now #1 ranked team. I am surprised Georgia is ahead of them considering they have a terrible loss on their resume.

Me neither. They aren't just looking at scores. They are looking at details, and AL was getting WHUPPED in that game. The score was not indicative on how that game went.

It wasn't some last minute saving face TD from Alabama. Yes, they got killed in the first half. But Burrow had to put the game away late in the 4th with a TD drive.

If they go 11-1, this ultimately might be what keeps them out. I haven't studied the wins other 1 loss contenders have. Maybe you have. But the "1" could also work in their favor in that they would have the best loss of any 1 loss contender (yes I am assuming Minnesota and Baylor both drop a game along the way). This is not me saying Bama should be in regardless. I'm just saying I don't think it's a done deal that they have no shot of making it.

What they did yesterday was reward Georgia for "best win" (ND, Fla) instead of punishing them for "worst loss" (SC). I don't remember if that has been a common theme the last couple of seasons in the CFP.
