I grew up on Washington football from my mom and dad so watching Wazzu Coug It is a special thing in my family.

Plus, Minnesota doesn't come close to the ridiculous levels of Wazzu.

IIRC whichever team needs the win the most often chokes in the Apple Cup. This is as distinct from the Civil War in Oregon where the team that needs to win rarely chokes.

Of course the team in question is UW or UO 75% of the time.

Side note — 4 weeks from tomorrow Miami and Florida get the season rolling. Hard to believe we’re that close already.

Also: Hawkeye fans are basically the biggest ****ing rubes in the big ten. Worse than Nebraska. I’d rather sit next to a badger fan than a Hawkeye fan. If only because the badger fan is at least going to have more IQ points than times they’ve diddled a hog.

Losing to Iowa State is a fine tradition, but I wouldn't call it the coolest in the sport.

That would be choking away a national title run to unranked BC.

TBH Cornell has done more than our share of this. Or is that your point?

Our ancient alumni b-tch about scramble bands as if they are reliving the dark day when the Fuzzy Wuzzies were permitted into 6 E 44th.

It also (thankfully) hasn't been much of a thing for ten years. Those were dark times.

I don't know who has that "crown" in the Big Ten currently. Indiana finds a million ways to come up short, but they never have any expectations. Rutgers is just plain awful. Maybe Nebraska?
