College Football 2017-18: Now with more CTE!

Re: College Football 2017-18: Now with more CTE!

What a coincidence the conference of the school Kep went to is the only one with "real" schools.

The topic is college sports. I don't see anything "real" about any Ivy sports except hockey and, um, polo?

And for the record, Brown and Dartmouth are in that conference and they aren't real schools...

My experience at Stanford did indeed demonstrate that Pac-10 schools attract women with great boobs, and god bless them for that.

Pictured: same school as Stanford, with better weather and more non-white students

Other than that, academically*... maybe not so impressive.

* I'm sure their admission scores are as wonderful as their orthodontia. Rich parents can afford SAT tutors and, if it comes to that, just paying off the high schools for A's. c.f., University, Harvard

Mookie can look at this all day.....

College sports in general > pro sports. Only exceptions I can think of are baseball (college baseball is meh at factory schools and terrible everywhere else) and soccer (college soccer is terrible everywhere -- there are at least 50 Central American U-18 pick up teams in DC each weekend who could beat the defending NCAA champion men's or women's soccer team).
College soccer is the worst. It’s what happens when a bunch white Americans who think they have better ideas and people blacklisted by the USSF get together and run things.

I would love to see an NC$$ title winner play a comparably aged team from any soccer country. I'm guessing 7 - nil. It might finally snap the entitlement of that establishment and those repellent parents.

It would be like watching a Robot Chicken Celebrity Death Match of the Stanford tennis team vs a bunch of Brazilians from the favelas.

What tier from another country, though? A lot of NCAA players play in the PDL or NPSL in the summer (actually BYU used to have their team play in the PDL rather than against colleges), so you're looking at Tier 3 in the USA. However, due to the way the pyramid works in the US, Tier 3 is also the first level of amateur play. In England, semi-pro doesn't start until Tier 5 and leagues don't appear to be fully semi-pro until Tier 7.

PDL and NPSL are Tier 4, not 3.

Considering past results from FIFA U20 World Cups, it’s not that big of a gap. There’s talent, the coaching sucks though.

Anyone familiar with going to a game at Penn State? Gonna make that trip this year when they host Iowa.

Wait, which the the male? Which is the female??

Re: College Football 2017-18: Now with more CTE!

The NCAA approves allowing a player to play in 4 games and still have the ability to redshirt.

Awesome rule change and should work out well at developmental programs in particular. Younger guys will get opportunities to see the field now, get film, etc. without a coach having to worry about burning a redshirt.

Re: College Football 2017-18: Now with more CTE!

Penn State made their bed on that one and it ain't going away anytime soon....

Oh, don't get me wrong. Pedo State (not to mention Holy Mother Church, the Pederast of Christ) richly deserves it hung around their neck for all eternity.

I was just admiring your deft ninja move. You were halfway back to the dōjō before the head started to slide diagonally off the shoulder.
