College Football 2017-18: Now with more CTE!

Re: College Football 2017-18: Now with more CTE!

It would be easy to start complaining about the playoffs, and how stupid they are- like we know either Miami or Clemson will not likely be in- they have to play each other, but if Bama looses to Auburn, they will still be in, etc. But the reality is- now that the championship game starts late, other than seeing the first 1/4, I'm not going to watch. Especially if they are teams that I don't like.

The end result of this playoff set up means that the only way I even watch half the game is if my team is in. Not like the traditional bowl games where you have the next day off or kinda on (1/2).

I think I mentioned that once before. As a fan of college football, I wonder how many others would rather get sleep over seeing a game between to "who-evers."

64 or bust.

And play them on consecutive days. Let's see how strong Alabama looks on Day 6.

Also add motorcycles.

Not even D3 or 1AA does that.

16 on 3 consecutive weekends. F the lesser bowels. They cost the schools money.

16 would take 4 weekends...unless you played 2 games one weekend.

I still think the best playoff would be 8. Take the conference champ from each of the Power 5, the highest ranked champ from the Group of 5, and then the two highest ranked at-large teams.

Right now, under this scenario, the playoff would be:
1. Alabama (SEC Champ) vs. 8. UCF (Group of 5 Champ)
2. Clemson (At-Large) vs. 7. Southern Cal (Pac 12 Champ)
3. Miami (ACC Champ) vs. 6. Auburn (At-Large)
4. Oklahoma (Big 12 Champ) vs. 5. Wisconsin (B1G Champ)

wild cards are seeded 7 & 8. certainly NOT #2!!

Re: College Football 2017-18: Now with more CTE!

Conference champs would not automatically be the best teams.

I could certainly see wildcards being in the top 4.

I gotta think we'll go to 8 eventually and that would be enough although I used to think that I'd like 16.

16 isn't necessary though as there is a drop off somewhere around 10 or 11.

Re: College Football 2017-18: Now with more CTE!

Ignore the conferences completely and just seed 1 to 8 on PWR. The conferences will drop their title games, saving a week. Use that week to move from 4 to 8. Season remains the same length.

Current playoffs (using the CFB rank in lieu of PWR):

8 Notre Dame at 1 Alabama
7 Georgia at 2 Clemson
6 Auburn at 3 Miami
5 Wisconsin at 4 Oklahoma

Further advantage: power teams will start scheduling each other or at least stop scheduling cream puffs to prevent a SOS hit.

But the BOOSTERS! AND the PARTIES!!

I hate Miami, but this is a thing of transcendent wonder and genius.

Re: College Football 2017-18: Now with more CTE!

I cannot adequately describe how much I hate it when receivers are praised for "creating separation."

What they mean to say is "pushing off" or "committing pass interference."

Re: College Football 2017-18: Now with more CTE!

I’m used to gopher football being an embarrassment, but those uniforms are the lowest this program has ever been.

Re: College Football 2017-18: Now with more CTE!

Weird. Minny has a gorgeous color scheme. Why do that?

Exactly. Anthracite is ok as a small dose in trim. It’s terrible when used as a whole, especially when it’s a bad shade of it.

Re: College Football 2017-18: Now with more CTE!

Miami comes out of it's "opened that can of whup-a*s on ND last week" hangover and pulls away from Va in the 4th qtr. @ Pitt next week and then it's Clemson for a berth in the tournament.

Re: College Football 2017-18: Now with more CTE!

JFC
Notre Dame is playing Navy and every ND player is named Rockne.
