Re: College Football 2016-17: Destination Tampa

He was already suspended for a year for that. Do they need to do it again?

He's a piece, no doubt. But we can't keep digging news up and punishing people twice, just because video was released.

His own attorneys released...I'm guessing so that he can be tried in the public now and if given the chance, not have his football career taken away later because this is released...at least that's my guess.

If he was 3rd string QB Joe Blau I imagine he would have gotten kicked off the team as opposed to a 'star' running back that gets a one year suspension. I hope he gets his arse handed to him in the civil suit. Sry, I have zero tolerance for a man putting his hands on a woman especially one that punches her so hard he breaks 4 bones in her face and then lies about the whole episode.

Re: College Football 2016-17: Destination Tampa

Later in the same article, it's pointed out that the process is longer than most people think, including appeals. You just seemed to pick one part of that, one guy from out of state's opinion.

I never was concerned with how long the process took, they can take however long they want. Is the star tribune not a reliable source? I guess I should have vetted it more carefully but I had no reason not to believe it. With that being said, reading the actual law there definitely is a difference between what it says and the quote from the star tribune. I still think unless you record every second of every encounter you're leaving yourself vulnerable to false accusations. I guess parents are going to have to send their kids off to school with a camcorder from now on.

How does a guy consent if he is intoxicated? One thing i've always wondered about.

You quoted one line from the entire story. Which was not the whole story, just one persons opinion.

At least attempt to see both sides.

Some schools would have kicked him off the team and out of school, for sure. OU didn't. We have to deal with that.

His lawyers were still trying to hide this. The Oklahoma Supreme Court ordered it made public.

I read the first five or so pages of the details about the night in question. These kids are dam lucky they couldn't prove anything.

I almost threw up.

Re: College Football 2016-17: Destination Tampa

So I take it nobody watched the marginal games yesterday.

The DII championship in Kansas City was played in a pretty strong snow storm. It was pretty amazing that NW Missu St could move the ball at all- but they managed to get that small gap and move the ball in 2-4" of snow.

And in Spokane, Youngstown St beat EWU on what realistically was the last play of the game. Weather wise- it was harsh as hades- started at 2 above, ended below 0 with light snow. Not many fans stayed. Good for them, as it turned out. Eastern was ahead for most of the game, then YSU got a go ahead TD late, which EWU answered too quickly and went back ahead. A bad kick off gave the Penguins good field position. Eastern has plenty of chances to stop them, but didn't. And really, Bo Pellini did his best to not let YSU win- as he got a first down inside the 10 with 20 seconds left, didn't call time out, and by the time the next play was over, there was just 6 seconds left. He should have had 4 chances to try, but bad clock management. In the end, didn't matter- quick slant, and a one handed catch on the back of the defender- and game winning TD. What an ending.

I was hoping for Eastern, as my Vandals are former and future Big Sky members, but the FCS championship is two teams that nobody really expected. Interesting.

DIII Championship on Friday was Mary Hardin-Baylor vs. Wisconsin-Oshkosh. First time since 2004 that Mt. Union wasn't in the championship game (9 of those 11 were against Wisconsin-Whitewater, the other two against St. Thomas (MN)). Mary Hardin-Baylor won their first title after losing to Linfield in the aforementioned 2004 Championship game.

There was a lot of North Alabama fans really cheesed off that they had stopped bidding on on the D2 championship game. Sure does suck for them that they had big plans to go D1-AA that kinda fell through and just now got their invite to go D1-AA. Been mocking some of them calling that weather an average tuesday in Michigan this time of the year. Everybody had NWMSU picked to be the champions this year.

Re: College Football 2016-17: Destination Tampa

I watched a good amount of the Celebration Bowl. Funny that a celebration penalty may have caused some issues for the ensuing blocked extra point that ended up deciding it.

Only game tomorrow is an afternoon game. May be able to catch the 4th quarter of that one. Tuesday's game doesn't seem too interesting so the Pointsettia Bowl is probably the next one I'll watch for.

They mentioned that on ESPN- some students on campus apparently are supporting the president and suspensions, too.

Based on what both sides are saying, Northern Illinois better pack their bags.

The players are demanding information, the administration can't/won't give it to them.

It's funny that they keep bringing up "due process"- nobody is going to jail. The worst that can happen is that students will be expelled. As far as I know, one can be expelled for things that are not against a law....

Since it's a government institution, they still get due process. But since it's the equivalent of an administrative hearing, the standards and burden of proof are much more relaxed. "Preponderance of the evidence" rather than "beyond all reasonable doubt" and things like hearsay are admissible.

Seemed like someone sat down withe players and explained that.

McCaffrey joins Fournette in bailing out of their bowl game to focus on the draft and preventing a serious injury.

I honestly suspect that Dalvin Cook would be considering the same if it wasn't the Orange Bowl and he a Miami native.
