College Football 2016-17: Destination Tampa

Re: College Football 2016-17: Destination Tampa

Washington beats Cal 66-27 en route to staying ranked #5 because the CFP Committee will rank Ohio State #4.

Probably, but the rankings really do not matter a whole lot just yet. If Washington finishes 13-0, they will be in the playoff.

To me, the interesting scenario involves Auburn running the table, with Clemson, Michigan, and Washington remaining undefeated. Does an SEC Champion 2-loss Auburn get in over a 1-loss Alabama they just beat?

They should or else it defeats the entire purpose of conference championships.

I'm not on the committee, so it doesn't matter, but I wouldn't, and it's not a close question. Beating Alabama doesn't make up for two losses. Auburn would also have to make a case for jumping over one or all of one-loss Louisville, and/or one loss Ohio State and/or one loss Michigan.

Quite plausible interesting scenario to me would be if Ohio State beats Michigan and everybody else wins out. There would be six logical candidates; three undefeateds (Clemson, Washington, and Alabama), two (Louisville and Michigan) that lost only to one of the other six, and Ohio State, that just beat Michigan. The clamoring for a six or eight team playoff would begin.

I'll take a serving of that Cluster-fark. If this is the system were using, I want pure chaos and debate.

I guess I'm surprised we're 7-2. I thought we might be 6-3 by now. I'm not sure we've turned a corner yet. There's probably a small but very vocal contingent that thinks we should fire a coach that doesn't win the rose bowl but anyone who thinks we should be 9-0 is kind of crazy.

I'm not sure the program has turned a corner, but it seems like the fan base is less impressed by the record as they would have been in the past. 9-0 might be a stretch, but I feel like both the Penn State and Iowa games were winnable, and the Gophers didn't take advantage the way a program that wants to be relevant should have.

I've been a UM FB fan for 40+ years. They are sadly so far from being a legit 9-0 it's preposterous to even ponder yet. Yes they played IA and PSU close but they've had a cakewalk schedule. With so many close games they could have lost to really bad teams, so much bad playcalling, so many mistakes being made on the field, so little true offensive talent especially at QB that I think it's silly to even ponder the question. I give them 0 chance against UW and they program will never be legit imho until they can compete with them year in and year out.

Gameday in Seattle at UW, sign says "Shooter McGavin blew a four stroke lead on the back nine! Never forget!"

:D

Other winners: "Welcome ESPN! Must be an SEC bye week."
"Does Sark leaving us count as a 'quality loss'?"

Re: College Football 2016-17: Destination Tampa

Stanford with its most points all season, 38, against Oregon. And that was just at halftime!

Re: College Football 2016-17: Destination Tampa

The refs in this Pitt-Clemson game are unlikely to make it out of Death Valley alive. They have called at least 3 phantom calls against Clemson that have extended drives and led to touchdowns for Pitt. The crowd is absolutely (and rightfully) furious. Clemson up by 2 with about 5 minutes to play.

Narduzzi with a huge win!

Clemson still in line for the playoff since they beat Louisville.

Re: College Football 2016-17: Destination Tampa

Wow...Pitt beats Clemson 43-42.

Now, Clemson blew that game and had numerous opportunities to win the game despite the officiating, but yeesh...Clemson is up by 3 scores and wins comfortably but for three absolute phantom calls.

Oh well...that should shake things up quite a bit in the playoff. Have to believe that Clemson should still make the playoff if they can win out.

Those were bad calls. Really bad.

Not looking good for Washington down 17-13 into the 4th.

Re: College Football 2016-17: Destination Tampa

Michigan just took the lead, but they don't look sharp at all. Players or coaches.
