Re: College Football 2015-16: The Big Ten Rises

P*ss poor clock management.

Followed by a terrible play call.

Denny Green is absolved from the worst coaching move ever. Thank you, MN Gophers.

Miami wins on the most laterals on a last play. Gets called for a block in the back, gets reviewed...twice, refs come back and say block from the side, so Miami wins

Reviewed? Did I miss something about them being able to review penalties other than targeting?

Re: College Football 2015-16: The Big Ten Rises

At the bar for both plays, but

1) Minnesota had some of the worst clock management I've ever seen. Why not sneak it first and then try for something different?

2) Miami definitely looked like they had a couple forward passes or blocks in the back, not sure how that stood.

Re: College Football 2015-16: The Big Ten Rises

There is something wrong with college replay. Time and time again you see obvious stuff on replay that for whatever reason does not get overturned. What are these guys looking at? It doesn't happen nearly as much in nfl. They just hate overturning calls in college.

Re: College Football 2015-16: The Big Ten Rises

There was also a clear shot of one miami player being down with ball still in hand

Washington state clearly just forced and recovered fumble yet on replay they don't call it that way.

Honestly, all bets are off on the final play of the game because no ref has the balls to throw a flag; they're trying to get out of there as quickly as possible. Block somebody in the back, line up in the neutral zone(Michigan tonight), bowl over the center illegally on a punt(Michigan State two weeks ago). Odds are you'll get away with it.

As a Middle-Fingerer to the Miracle In Memphis, I didn't see a forward lateral. Now, about blocking/etc...I have to watch it a few times to make judgement.

Re: College Football 2015-16: The Big Ten Rises

You'll see the pic of miami guy's knee down with ball still in hand

I suspect that the ACC will be apologizing to Duke for this particular thing. The review was irrelevant, due to the penalties. How they manage to justify the reviews of the blocks will be really interesting.

BTW, based on some people here saying that Minnesota didn't get calls, and my wife and I thinking Michigan didn't get calls, and games like this Miami ending- we seem to agree that the officiating REALLY sucks this year. Badly. Makes it really hard to watch games and enjoy them. I really like college football- far more than pro- and can watch many teams just get out there and play on Saturday. When the refs just miss calls so consistently- it makes that enjoyment much less.

It's almost as if the refs as a whole are protesting the replay rules and are calling the games badly.
