Baylor strikes back

Wow!! Almost feels like WMU's begging Norte Dame in to taking them with them wherever they go webpage.

Honestly, they should have started this a few months ago.

Re: College Football 2011: Enough of realignment and scandals. Gimme Footbaw!

Baylor knows they're hosed if the Big XII-2-1 dies because they used a Baylor alum governor and a whole lot of political pressure to get into the conference in the first place, and threw TCU/Houston/SMU under the bus to get in and promptly won 11 conference games in their first 13 seasons. Those schools wouldn't lift a finger to help them now. Maybe they get TCU's Mountain West spot, thought they might not even be that attractive and could fall to the WAC.

Edit: And their president- Ken Starr. Fark them.

I wonder if I should have a cigar when this plan fails. :D

LOL, no. The B16 is not getting stuck with Iowa State.

Also, what conference would ND tie itself to for their Olympic sports?

Re: College Football 2011: Enough of realignment and scandals. Gimme Footbaw!

Not good enough -- suggest reasonable changes, not just criticisms.

They would take Rutgers or Pitt long long long long before they take Iowa State, who bring f all to the table.

Edit: They are an AAU member, but still.

Re: College Football 2011: Enough of realignment and scandals. Gimme Footbaw!

Syracuse would fit into the Big Whatever number they are this week due to the academic standards. Pitt would go there to. South Florida wouldn't be left out because the ACC would take them.

Also, would the leftovers be called something... Atlantic Hockey? :D

TV market distribution will probably drive this stuff more than anything else, in which case maybe some existing "Big Four" members will swap. Why have 2 LA members of the Pac 16, etc...

I think USC, Notre Dame, Miami and Texas be the core of their own NCFC. :)

Re: College Football 2011: Enough of realignment and scandals. Gimme Footbaw!

There is talk that there will be only three "super conferences" - the SEC would pick and choose the ACC teams they wanted and everyone else would either hope to get into the Integer (Duke/NC/VA) or go to the Big East (which will no longer be a super conference). I think the leagues would get way, way too big at only three conferences.

Mark Cuban says the Big XII-3 should stay together and wait until schools start to see the light and try to get back into smaller conferences.

Ew. I wonder how much of that speculation is driven strictly by the idea of VaTech to the SEC? If Feinbaum's show is any guide, Florida would fight Florida State coming to the SEC with every bone in its body.

The *only* advantage I can see in that is it would open up the obvious concept of an NCAA Final Four with the winners of the 3 super conference finals plus one at-large. That's aesthetically pleasing.

Man, the players in that conference would make millions.

Re: College Football 2011: Enough of realignment and scandals. Gimme Footbaw!

Bob Stoops said OU's move to the Pac-12 is not contingent on Texas and they would move without them. He also says that would effectively end the Red River Rivalry because they would not schedule Texas OOC every year.

Don't know if we already knew this, but Gameday will be at Michigan this week.
