College Football 2009: Bowl College Stupidity Rankings

Re: College Football 2009: Bowl College Stupidity Rankings

I feel really bad for TCU and Cincinatti. They really played great seasons.

Florida was exposed and Tim "In your face for JC" Tebow lost. Wahhh! Waah!!

Nebraska could have won the game had:

A. Their defensive backs known that it is pass interference every time if you may a play at the reciever in the process of catching the ball rather than looking back and trying to make a play on the ball.

B. Nebraska had someone who knew how to play QB. Seriously... at one point Zach "Kill me now" Lee had a 2/11 8 FREAKING YARDS 2 INT. He might have not even added any yards before his third INT. In one word: PATHETIC.

On the other hand, Texas had every opportunity to put the game away but they couldn't. Thanks to Suh. Man that guy can play.

On a random note:

What are your take on Suh as far as the draft is concerned? He's gotta be a first rounder but how high do you think he'll go?

Re: College Football 2009: Bowl College Stupidity Rankings

Suh should go #1. He won't go out of the top 3 unless he gets an injury or a DUI, something like that.

Re: College Football 2009: Bowl College Stupidity Rankings

Looking through the 34 bowl matchups. Not a lot I am interested in, but there is some.

Las Vegas - Oregon State v BYU
Champs - Miami v Wisconsin (Miami fan)
Holiday - Arizona v Nebraska
Insight - Minnesota v Iowa State (Minnesota fan)
Fiesta - TCU v Boise State (although I should boycott this crap)

Well, I'm at least going to a Bowl Game!!!!

WOOT WOOT- my Vandals are playing in... Boise.

And we get to play CCHA bottom dweller, Bowling Green. Ok- they did have enough wins in Football.

And I don't expect much from my Vandals, but bowling we will go!

Honestly, I'm pretty excited that my first almamater is in a bowl game, especially considering my second isn't.

Reverse the teams and I agree with you.

Other then Bama, none of the other four undefeated teams did anything that would distinguish them from the other undefeated teams. It all came down to the fact that Texas and the Big 12 was expected to be the better team/conference before the season started.

The French Rage Championship series is proud to announce its championship game, pitting TCU against Boise State.

Also, the Sun Bowl will be pretty cool as it pairs the team of the previous Heisman winner against the team with the current one. :D

Re: College Football 2009: Bowl College Stupidity Rankings

Is the BCS really that frightened of non-BCS conference teams winning two of five bowls and possibly taking two of the top 3 spots in the polls? It gets more absurd every year.

I think that the Festa Bowl just wanted to sell as many tickets as possible, BSU and TCU are going to travel at least as well as Iowa and way better then Cincinnati.

Scout's Inc. has him rated third overall in their last rankings and Mel Kiper has him as his top rated player...

Alabama is playing in the Sun Bowl too?

Re: College Football 2009: Bowl College Stupidity Rankings

So my FCS team made themselves look like a bunch of clowns yesterday and it's looking like my FBS team will likewise be on the short end of a rout against LSU unless they play a perfect game. :(

TCU vs. Boise State translated into English: "We are the BCS and we will not hesitate making a mockery out of our system if it suits us."

Seriously, I know it's been discussed before but I need to hear it again.... Why can't they have an 8-team playoffs for the title AND have the normal smorgasbord of bowl games? It would provide 3 additional football games to rake in the $$$$....

Re: College Football 2009: Bowl College Stupidity Rankings

No, I was definitely making an unfair generalization based on the reaction of OSU fans on other boards, who were saying that the Civil War was a battle of who would lose to Ohio State. So it's really only targeted at a small and unfortunately vocal minority. I for one like seeing a team other than USC against the Big 10, not because of anything against USC but that was getting rather repetitive.
Let me belatedly thank you for this clarification.

For my part, I am painfully aware of the "vocal minority" in our fanbase. That's one reason it's important for the rest of us to speak up every now and then. Although Columbus is overly invested in Buckeye Football, it's certainly possible to support the team in a level-headed way. Most, but obviously not all, do so.

No such luck. She was in College Station doing the Women's Soccer National Championship Game.

Oh, and I am on the Gerhart band wagon...
Grrrrr.... Those poor Women College Soccer fans!!!

Easily in the Top 5. Right now, I think he's the only guy out there good enough to be worth trading up for in the Draft.

I think the short answer is that a lot of people invested in the current system wouldn't make $$$$ under the new one. That and there are a few people out there who swallow the BS about "every game is a playoff" and "playoffs would wreck the student-athlete experience".

If BSU and TCU are the two best teams after UT and Alabama (according to the BCS) why is it a travaschmockery for them to play each other? Not having a playoff system bites but talk about manufacturing reasons to beyotch.
