U of Minnesota president to recommend to Regents that classes resume on campus for fall and the dorms open.

By the time this thing hits the bottoms of the trough, 11 sports may BE top tier...

You don't say! https://www.cbssports.com/college-f...portedly-tested-positive-for-the-coronavirus/

Alabama's players have begun to return to campus ahead of voluntary workouts starting next week. At least five of those players have already tested positive for the coronavirus, according to 247Sports. The names of the players who have tested positive for COVID-19 have not been disclosed.

Simone Eli of CBS 42 in Birmingham reported that, not only did five unidentified players test positive, but that many more could be subject to quarantine as roughly 50 players were gathered together on the band field on Wednesday.

Florida State boycotted for half a day and were able to make some changes within the program as far as community involvement and team leadership go.

Iowa just had to fire its strength coach over racist comments and actions.

Now Oklahoma State has their best player boycotting because Gundy wore an OAN shirt and has talked about the network in the recent past. And there are more players getting behind him.

Some college football games already being canceled, though nothing FBS vs FBS yet. Some of the cancellations have involved FBS vs FCS games, though.

And Stanford announced they’re dropping 11 sports after this year, though I don’t believe most of these are even NCAA sponsored: M and W fencing, field hockey, lightweight rowing, men’s rowing, coed and women’s sailing, M and W squash, men’s volleyball, and synchronized swimming.

MVB definitely is, they won an NC about 10 years ago, not sure about the rest. It should be noted they are dropping them AFTER this coming academic year, so they can still compete this coming year if there is a season.

Those all sound like the kind of sports where Stanford competes with maybe a couple dozen other Upper Class Twit of the Year schools and rolls up those laughable Directors Cup numbers.

Muffy and Chester have a lot of free time for sailing.

Who had 17 minutes for a whiny retort from Kepler on something Stanford-related?

Who had 7 for French being insecure about it?

It's OK, son. Your undergrad was fine.

(We are one of the 34 varsity sailing schools, the vast majority of which are either naval or snoot city, and apparently we suck at it. Amazingly, Princeton is not, though they have a sh-t ton of sailing Hall of Famers. There's a story there.)

Unless I missed one, it looks like the sports they’re dropping that count towards the Directors’ Cup are fencing, men’s volleyball, field hockey, and wrestling. And they only scored points in fencing and wrestling during 2018-19.

I have nothing mean to say about fencing. A know a very nice man who did fencing. Also, it's f-cking cool. And it will be practical once guns are illegal.

Wait...fencing is cool? I am not sure those words have ever actually been spoken un-ironically ;-)

Ivies are canceling all fall sports, and all winter sports won't start until January 1st at earliest.

Dartmouth dumping men's and women's golf, men's and women's swimming, and men's lightweight crew.

It's funny that the things a person can do for a lifetime, like tennis, golf, swimming, etc..., are always the first sports cut at every level of school.

BT going with conference games only for football. Possibly within the division only with some home-and-home series. Although I can understand it what's the difference between traveling to IL vs. say CO?

The ACC should also limit themselves to conference games. But, like, real conference games. No games with sorta conference affiliates to headstrong to join a conference.

Wait, you know another fencer? I had never seen a bout, took it for freshman gym, then lettered in varsity the next two seasons, making it to eastern regionals as a junior. Team was cut before my senior season. :(. Guess that’s what happens when your squad is so bad a newbie like me could make the cut....
